A quirky and imaginative hideaway, with all the delights of the Gloucestershire countryside literally on the doorstep!
  • Sleeps: 6
  • Bedrooms: 2
  • Bathroom: 1
  • Minimum stay: 2 nights

Sleeping up to six people in perfect rural comfort, The Red Bus is a joyfully idyllic haven for families looking to reconnect in nature (whilst having plenty of fun into the bargain).

A cosy, colourful and creative conversion of an Eighties’ double-decker Metro bus, this is one retro classic that will never date!

Your stop is located in the historic, riverside Gloucestershire village of Newnham-on-Severn. Secluded in a private spot that adjoins a paddock, your closest neighbours are a collection of friendly goats, while the panoramic views of whispering trees and wide open fields are quite literally stunning.

Meanwhile, The Red Bus itself is imbued with plenty of charm and character that will have you feeling welcome and relaxed from the moment you set foot on board. Well-behaved pets are welcome too, so there’s no need to leave your best friend behind.

With the driver’s seat and steering wheel beautifully in tact, there are plenty of quirky reminders that you’re on a bus – and with no annoying passengers to worry about (well, apart from your family, of course!), you’ll feel as though you’re travelling first-class all the way.

Discover two irresistibly snug double bedrooms, one on the upper deck and one on the lower, along with cosy bunks that the kids will love.  There’s a well-equipped galley kitchen and dining area on the lower deck, while the top deck lounge is equipped with comfortable furnishings, a TV and DVD player…and of course, those magnificent countryside views.

There’ll be no wandering around in the dark looking for the loo, either – there’s one on board, with a deluxe shower room in an adjacent building.

While it’s easy to hole yourselves up on the bus, with so much amazing wildlife on your doorstep, why not get out and explore?

You could start with an invigorating walk through nearby Hangman’s Wood, or head to the Royal Forest of Dean for a traditional Gloucestershire countryside ramble (or Go Ape, if you’re feeling more adventurous!) Slightly further afield are the captivating Malvern Hills, Black Mountains, and the Brecon Beacons National Park.

Head into Gloucester, the cathedral city of the Cotswolds, for an historic day out, or make for Clearwell Caves to view eerily captivating caverns as seen on TV shows Dr. Who and Merlin. There’s also an array of ancient market towns nearby, including Monmouth and Ross-on-Wye, which are home to some wonderful shops, bars and restaurants.

Gather round the firepit after a long day out, and toast some marshmallows as you swap holiday stories in the countryside. After a soothing stay aboard The Red Bus, you’ll never view a busman’s holiday in quite the same light!
