The Nest Treehouse
England / Blackdown Hills, Devon
Full description
A genuine treehouse, up a tree; unique, idyllic and perfectly luxurious treehouse hideaway in Devon's beautiful Blackdown Hills.
The Nest offers the chance for a lucky pair of lovebirds to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of an ancient broadleaved wood, fully suspended nine metres high in a mature English oak tree. After a short meander through the surrounding woodland, you'll find yourself at the foot of a spiral staircase, leading to this very special holiday home. Before you climb it though, take a moment to marvel at this incredible treehouse from the ground. Constructed in timber, clad in cedar and encircling the majestic oak, you'll soon see why guests have called The Nest ‘a little piece of paradise'!
At the top of your fairy-tale stairway is a charming balcony, from which two doors lead into the peaceful Nest. The first enters into the luxurious living area, where you'll discover everything you need to sleep, cook, relax and dine together. Perfectly finished in every respect - from the light and airy décor, to the wooden floor, and even to the warm and cosy touches throughout - this beautiful space exudes a wonderfully welcoming rustic feel.
So what can you find in your little treetop hideaway? Well, all the touches of home you might expect if you were on the ground! Every feature has been included for your comfort: a sofa, a television and DVD player, a cute dining table for two, a double bed - and that's just the start. The Nest also features a perfectly proportioned kitchen area with a two-burner gas hob, a microwave and grill, a fridge-freezer, a sink and drainer and a whistling kettle for a proper cup of tea. Curl up with a book or play a board game to while away your evenings, while mains electricity and a toasty wood-burning stove mean you won't miss out on any of your creature comforts.
In this secluded bolthole, you may even forget you're holidaying in a tree canopy at all, until you spy the unique additions that remind you of your surroundings (the curtain pole branch and the beams made from tree boughs are exceptional). And then, of course, one glance out of the window and you're looking through the branches of neighbouring trees! Rest assured, though - yours is the only treehouse in the woodland. How's that for perfect privacy?
Next door, you'll find the fully equipped bathroom (complete with quirky wood-themed flooring), accessed through the second door from the balcony. The gas-heated shower provides endless hot water, while the flushing loo and cute corner basin add even more luxury to your treehouse home.
The balcony is a sublime space to breathe in the woodland scent, listen to the sounds around you, and fully appreciate all nature has to offer. Take your morning coffee or your evening tipple at the table and chairs for two, or dine alfresco for the ultimate romantic meal.
It's easy to see why guests to The Nest could spend their whole stay cosseted in this treehouse haven. However, you'll find many more Devonshire delights in easy reach if the urge takes you. The Blackdown Hills are magnificent to discover on foot, on horseback, or even in a glider, while foodies can get their fill of exquisite local produce at the variety of pubs and restaurants you'll find in the area. Exeter and Taunton are in easy reach, each with cinemas, theatres, and shops, while the Jurassic Coast is only a short drive away for paddling, sunbathing and fossil hunting.
With so much to enjoy in this unique treehouse hideaway, it'll no doubt be a wrench when you descend the spiral staircase for the last time. But remember - even after you've left and returned to the bustle of life, the peace and seclusion of The Nest will still be there...perfect for an annual migration.
Things to note
Strictly no smoking, minimum 2 night stay, no children, no pets, high powered torches are provided for outside lighting purposes, off-road parking and wheelbarrow for transporting luggage are available.
