Full description
An awe-inspiring conversion for celestial group stays, divinely nestled in a tranquil Somerset village that's close to the city of Wells.

Boasting a spectacular mix of original features with elegant and contemporary style, The Gothic Church is a truly divine setting for that well-deserved group break.

Sleeping up to sixteen guests in six bedrooms (small pets are welcome, too), there's plenty of light, bright, beautifully decorated space for everyone to catch up in.

You'll discover the exquisite church, which was originally built back in 1838, nestled in the peaceful village of East Horrington. Just two miles from the cathedral city of Wells, there'll be plenty of scope for both shopping and relaxing!

The stunning, double-height vaulted atrium provides a suitably grand entrance, while the sun-streaked, well-equipped 44ft kitchen and breakfast room promises to be your sociable hangout space of choice...

...that is, when you're not upstairs in the gorgeous Chancel room, with its jaw-dropping central glass wood-burning stove and spectacular Gothic windows. From here, you'll be able to gaze at distant views of the mythical Glastonbury Tor and the Isle of Avalon.

Exploring your new surroundings is sure to evoke many more gasps of delight. The banqueting gallery, with its three magnificent, original stained-glass windows and pieces of modern art, is the perfect setting for celebratory bubble-accompanied dinners that last long into the night.

Meanwhile, your private decked courtyard is also home to an indulgent indoor hot tub, and if you feel the need of some extra pampering, you can even arrange for a qualified therapist to provide a selection of in-church spa treatments.

Bedroom-wise, you'll find three downstairs, including the former altar, which has been gracefully transformed into a glass-enclosed bedchamber for four guests, and a huge room with village views that's also for four guests (each room features four single beds).  The third downstairs room houses a charming queensize bed.

Take the sweeping double staircase to discover three more bedrooms; a romantic twin room that faces the rolling countryside, a peaceful south-facing room with three single beds, and another elegant room with a queensize bed for two.

After a sound night's sleep, why not congregate over morning coffee and plan your day? The nearby Mendip Hills offer a playground of activity, from gentle walks to golf, hot air ballooning and clay pigeon shooting!

Visit Wells for cultural hotspots, shopping, open air markets, and endless coffee-stops (and if you recognise the scenery here, it could be because you've seen it on screen, in films including Hot Fuzz, The Libertine, and Elizabeth: The Golden Age.)

All that's left to do is relax in that indoor hot tub, or head for one of the sumptuous bathrooms and fill the freestanding tub with masses of bubbles. A fitting end to yet another heavenly day!

Things to note

Check in after 2pm, check out by 12pm. Small dogs are permitted, but are not allowed on the furniture and beds. Please note that as the church is located in a small village, late night noise restrictions are in place, and the hot tub can only be used between 9am - 9pm.
