The Curious Cabinet
The Curious Cabinet - turn the key and open the door to a magical world steeped in captivating creative beauty far away from the distractions of everyday life, nestled in the heart of Bristol... and beyond!
You could be forgiven for believing that such an enchantingly artistic concept as The Curious Cabinet could only exist in imagination. An amazingly unique and inspiring haven to indulge your senses, with every last eclectic detail thoughtfully cared for and delightful touches of beauty everywhere you look - surely all that sounds far too good to be true?
Specialising in transforming imagination into reality, The Curious Cabinet is the brainchild of renowned artist Sadie Spikes, who has created a beautiful sanctuary full of warmth, intended to spirit you far away from all the demands and distractions of a busy modern existence and allowing you permission to press the ‘Pause' button on life for a moment.
The Curious Cabinet consists of three magnificent Curious Retreats secluded in a secret outdoor location, and a luxuriously peaceful boutique guesthouse in Fishponds, Bristol. The guesthouse is also home to Sadie's personal art studio and gallery, often used to host all manner of exciting events. Step inside the Cabinet and get ready to rediscover your own creative senses!
Restore your natural vitality in The Retreat or the White Room, two double bedrooms tucked cosily away in the eaves of the guesthouse. Both self-contained with personal en-suites, why not take a long, sumptuous soak in the roll-top bath while you watch the world (and the stars) go by? For an extra touch of indulgence, hire a fluffy robe and a restorative session in the beautiful cedar hot tub for relaxation at its finest.
Wake up to a buffet-style continental breakfast in the morning, served in your room or the farmhouse-style kitchen... washed down with a huge cup of coffee, or even better - steaming hot chocolate! Later on, why not enjoy a luxurious cream tea served on dainty china crockery?
The guesthouse is perfectly located for you to enjoy all the sights and hidden gems that Bristol has to offer, with the city centre just a short bus journey away. Bring your bike and experience a fabulous route along the old railway track.
If a stay in a traditional guesthouse isn't quite for you... the Curious Retreats, three stunning show vans in a secret location (around a forty-minute drive from Bristol in secluded farmland) may be just the thing for an invigorating break with a genuine touch of the unique.
After all, how many holidays have you taken during which you've bathed in a luxurious roll-top bath...in a horse box? Or perhaps played ‘dressing up' with a gorgeous selection of clothing in a lush field, accompanied by lashings of sweets and creamy hot chocolate, while a cosy wood-burner keeps you lovely and toasty throughout?
The Curious Retreats are perfect for groups of up to six people looking for a chance to escape everyday life and step into a truly delightful world, where just about any dream seems possible!
The three show vans each feature a comfy double bed, and you'll find plenty of scope to abandon all the pressures and distractions back at home, with books to read and an abundance of natural, star-studded space all around you, allowing your natural creativity (and your friendships) to really thrive.
The Curious Retreats are electricity-free, meaning work, gadgets and the endless pressures of social media can be left far behind as you naturally declutter your mind. You'll find the aforementioned roll-top bath in a horse box, and a toilet block close by. Simply bring yourselves...along with a camera, a sketchpad and a few treats!

and homely vibes are amazing! Love this place! Sadie rocks too."
"Really does have a magic to it. Unlike any Hotel or B&B I've stayed
in before, this place made me feel genuinely cared for. The sort of cared
for that you feel as a child when you wake up in your favourite aunts house.
