The Brake Carriage
A first class, dog-friendly retreat charmingly secluded in the Mendip Hills, ideal for exploring all the delights of North Somerset.
Once a railway carriage that was home to the train's essential handbrake, The Brake Carriage has been transformed by friendly owner Angela into a warm and soothing retreat for two (plus their two lucky dogs!)
Secluded behind a hedgerow in the Mendip Hills, this is the perfect place to get up close and personal with North Somerset nature during endless country hikes. Though if you prefer, you can simply grab a drink and immerse yourselves in amazing views towards Glastonbury Tor.
Inside, you'll find everything you need to relax, with a downy double bed housed at one end of the carriage, and a compact dining area at the other. A cosy lounge connects them, complete with a crackling wood-burning stove to warm your evenings. There's even a purpose-built shower room to freshen up in, with a contemporary compost loo.
Outside awaits a funky outdoor kitchen, together with a comfy al fresco seating area for sunset-watching. Just the (train) ticket, after a long day exploring the local area!
