The Boat Shed
England / Lymington, Hampshire
Full description
Pared-down designer luxury awaits, privately secluded in a scenic New Forest spot that's ideal for romantic seafaring souls.
Rescued by Grand Designs-featured architect Henning Stummel (whose ‘Tin House' won the RIBA House of the Year), The Boat Shed packs a serious design punch.
Perched on stilts and secluded in a private spot at the Royal Lymington Yacht Club, the dreamlike location affords plenty of scope for scenic luxury...think soaring sea birds, and boats ambling along gently glinting river water.
Sleeping up to three guests (and one well-behaved dog), this is a truly amazing setting for a romantic break with a nautical twist.
The Boat Shed's immaculate interiors are a shrine to relaxed, clutter-free living, in which you'll find everything you need to enjoy a perfect break. Space is saved in a functional yet creative way, including a well-equipped kitchen area set into a wall of cupboards, and a cosy Queen-sized sofa bed perfectly folded and ready just when you need it.
(There's a third single bed for children or extra guests, set high in the eaves and accessed by a vertical ladder).
With no distracting TV or WiFi in sight, all that's left to do is catch up and reconnect with the one you love.
In the mood for an al-fresco snack, or a lazy book-reading session? Simply head for your private furnished decking area, and indulge to your heart's content. With an outdoor dining table that seats up to 8, you can even invite some new friends to come and break bread.
Better still, open up the garden gates for access to the coastal path, or an energising dip in the Sea Water Baths at the Lymington Lido, which are temptingly close by!
If you're up for taking a wander, you could head into the bustling Lymington town and explore the romantic cobbled streets (passing an excellent gastro pub on your way). Lymington is regularly featured in the UK's ‘Top 10 Places to Live' surveys...and you're sure to see why just as soon as you arrive.
Meanwhile, simply take a turn to the west for a setting that's more as nature intended. Expect huge skies, long beaches, whispering wilderness...and the occasional welcome coffee stop.
Further afield, the Isle of Wight is a mere half-hour away by ferry, or why not jump on the train and travel through the National Park wilds to Brockenhurst for a memorable day out?
Make your way back to the sanctuary of The Boat Shed by evening, where you can enjoy a well-deserved drink on the fairy-lit decking. This is the place where romantic memories are sure to be made.
Things to note
The Boat Shed is perched on 1.5 metre stilts, with a ramp for wheelchair access. Parking is available within 30 metres, with uneven access. Arrive after 3:30pm, depart before 10am. Please note there is no WiFi or TV at the property. Please bring highchair/cot if needed.
