The Beekeeper's Bothy
Scotland / Newburgh, Aberdeenshire
Full description
A relaxing retreat on the windswept, nature-infused Aberdeenshire coast, with sweeping panoramic views of the Ythan Estuary.
You'll discover the bespoke, larch-clad Beekeeper's Bothy - one of three - perfectly positioned in the village of Newburgh, on the atmospheric Aberdeenshire coast.
Surrounded by wild, unspoilt nature, and sleeping up to four guests, you can gaze at the Ythan Estuary (designated a Site of Specific Scientific Interest for its diverse plant and wildlife) through the floor-to-ceiling window, as you snuggle cosily up inside.
You'll also be surrounded by everything you need to hole yourselves up in tranquil comfort, so all you need to do is bring some essential holiday supplies, and get ready to relax!
There's a peaceful, daylight-flooded living area with a double sofa bed, and a stylish kitchenette with a countertop electric hob, microwave, toaster, and all the utensils you could possibly want.
The shower room is ideal for morning freshen-ups, while the cleverly designed mezzanine sleeping space sits just above the living area.
You'll find this dreamy space furnished with a downy superking mattress, and a huge window that means you can watch the twinkling stars before drifting off, then wake to an awe-inspiring sunrise.
After a lazy lie-in, it's time for the serious business of putting the kettle on, whipping up a hearty breakfast, and deciding how you're going to spend the rest of the day!
You certainly won't have to stray too far... in just a five-minute walk, you can view the Newburgh grey seal colony at the mouth of the Ythan river. The vast, sandy beach and dunes will then lead you all the way to Aberdeen, if you walk for long enough!
(If you're lucky enough to own a horse, you'll find that the beach is a wonderful setting for a hack... and you can even take advantage of the bothy's ‘Horse on Holiday' package in the summer months, which offers accommodation for your equine companion.)
To the north, the Forvie Nature Reserve offers wonderful walking and cycling trails that lead to charming bays, and into the picture-perfect village of Collieston.
Oh, and since you're holidaying in Scotland, castle and whisky trails are surely a must! Luckily, you can discover some of the very best right here, from the majestic clifftop fortress of Dunnottar Castle, to the Glen Garioch distillery - one of Scotland's oldest.
Wear out your senses with the never-ending charms of this magical area, before returning to The Beekeeper's Bothy to restore them again...
... just in time to pour a glass of wine, and watch that captivating sunset.
Things to note
Check in from 3pm - 10pm, check out by 10am. Please note that the bothy is not suitable for very small children, and regrettably pets are not permitted.
