An elegant 1920s wooden villa loved by families and film crews alike, set in the relaxed heart of Montalivet, just a short walk to the sands.

Featured in The Guardian, The Times and style-bible Tatler, not to mention its status as a favourite setting for film crews and photographers, The Beachouse has earned a reputation for instilling a fresh sense of relaxed style and tasteful elegance into the traditional French seaside holiday.

The stunning wooden villa has retained its original 1920s features, instantly transporting you to a rich world of chic that's beautifully styled with antique furnishings, retro kitchens and vintage fabrics.

While your surroundings are perfectly serene and close to the beach, a short walk will take you into the energising heart of Montalivet, complete with its pedestrianised street favoured by rollerbladers, a huge, lively market and a thriving restaurant scene.

Ideal for large groups and hugely popular with families, The Beachouse is divided into three self-contained flats, all linked by a sociable veranda - itself the ideal setting to congregate over a tasty seaside supper, accompanied by a glass or two of the wine this region of France is justly famous for.

The quirky, authentically-styled West Flat comes complete with a cosy sitting room and interconnected bedrooms that are ideal for parents with small children. The graceful Middle Flat is home to three double bedrooms and a beautiful shell-encrusted shower, as well as a long dining table that's ideal for socialising.

Meanwhile, the hip Studio sleeps a maximum of six, and with its accessible private garden and attic den, makes the perfect hideaway for teenagers who need their own space!

You'll find something here for everyone, including toys and cots for the little ones, and a sand garden, a paddling pool, bike hire and table tennis for the not-so little ones.

During summer, this popular area is alive with concerts and street entertainment...ideal for indulging in fun to your heart's content, before heading back to the serenity of your Beachouse! Continue the relaxation by packing up a picnic and heading off to nearby Hourtin Lake - the largest lake in France - where you can while away a sunny afternoon in picturesque style.

Closer to home, the long, sandy beach (the Gironde features over 120 miles of unbroken coastline) provides plenty of opportunities for safe swimming, surfing and sunbathing, with surf shops to browse through nearby.

Meanwhile, there are plenty of forest trails to explore on two feet or two wheels, while if you're in the mood for some more shopping, simply take a three-minute stroll into the famed and extensive Montalivet market, where you can pick up plenty of foodie delights (oysters and champagne, anyone?)

Lovers of good wine will adore the chateaux begging to be discovered in the neighbouring areas, complete with wine tasting opportunities all year round.

With a stay at The Beachouse, you'll soon find you're surrounded by all the elements of the good life. So pour that wine, put your feet up...and immerse yourselves in all the heady seaside charms of la belle France!
