Teasel Shepherd's Hut
Perfectly placed just a few miles from the beautiful Northumberland coastline, and its invigorating National Park, Teasel Shepherd's Hut is the perfect base for explorers and free spirits alike.
(And with on-site kennels and stables available, there's no need for your four-legged friends to miss out on all the fun, too!)
Sleeping up to four guests in one kingsize bed and two full-sized single bunks, one of which cleverly folds into a seating area by day, the characterful, fully insulated hut is full of home-from-home comforts.
The cute galley kitchen is well-equipped for country feasts, with an electric two-ring hob, a microwave combi oven, and an under-counter fridge - and there's even an extendable dining table, for you to enjoy the fruits of your culinary labours!
Meanwhile, the bathroom features an electric shower, basin and toilet (meaning no awkward midnight queues for communal loos). Oh, and there's an electric ‘real flame effect' stove to warm your toes around on cooler evenings.
Better still, holiday versatility is built in here - guests can also hire Colin, a fun retro caravan that's perfectly set up for little ones to use as a den and a sleeping area.
There are two additional huts on site, Cow Parsley and Foxglove, meaning if you can't decide who gets to join you on your break, you can simply book all three huts and bring everybody along!
With your holiday company nicely sorted, it's on to more important matters: deciding what to do with your time together. You could start by stocking up on provisions in the nearby village of Lowick, or travelling further afield to Belford or Wooler instead, both treasure troves for independent shops and friendly pubs alike.
How about a day at the beach? With over 30 miles of sand to choose from along the Northumberland coast, including Cheswick, Bamburgh, and the Holy Island of Lindisfarne all close by, you're utterly spoilt for choice. Birdwatchers will find their heaven too, somewhere along the windswept Northumberland Coastal Path.
Meanwhile, history and nature buffs will love all the scenic drama of the Cheviot Hills, where you can feast your eyes upon Iron Age stone fortifications, and traces of Bronze Age hillforts. Not forgetting keen cyclists, who can whizz along the Pennine Cycleway to their hearts' content.
After a hectic day of exploring, adventuring, and indulging in everything this magical area has to offer, simply head back to your cosy hut and enjoy catching up over drinks in the seated area outside, as the sun sinks over the horizon.
A firepit can even be made available on request, just in case you're in the mood to linger a bit longer, toasting marshmallows as the first stars appear in the night sky.
Things to note
Arrive at 4pm, depart by 10am. Up to two well-behaved dogs are welcome, and there is stabling available for horses by request. Please note that Teasel is not particularly suited for babies due to limited space. Children of all ages must be supervised in the surrounding area, which includes an unfenced pond. WiFi coverage is intermittent.
Tried and tested
"This little place is fantastic. The location is perfect for a complete hideaway break. Beautiful and quiet surroundings but not far from things to do. Rachel was lovely and so helpful and our dog Milo loved making friends with Elvis! The hut itself is stylish, comfortable, warm, clean and perfect for us with some lovely little thoughtful touches. As a hater of New Year, this has got to be one of the best I've ever had! Thank you again and no doubt we will be back."
"Wonderful hut, warm despite a super cold night. Comfortable beds, great shower room with lots of hot water! Stunning location. Highly recommend!"
"We had the most amazing time at Teasel. It was perfect, so laidback. The kids loved the horses, they loved the dogs, they loved the bunk beds. The kids have asked if we can live there. We honestly would if we could... It is perfect. Thank you so much for a lovely mini holiday!!"
