Captivating Welsh countryside and a cosy yurt, the ideal recipe for a fun, friendly and relaxing rural break.

Friendly and family-run, Strawberry Skys Yurts began life back in 2006 (when the term ‘glamping' had yet to be coined!), as owners Eric and Anya discovered the perfect spot to set up their holiday sanctuary.

You'll find Strawberry Skys Yurts in Powys, in a beautiful setting that combines the most picturesque rural scenery and welcoming atmosphere with easy proximity to the Welsh coastline.

Featured in the Guardian's ‘Ten Best Glamping Sites' just three years after opening, the site welcomes a large number of happily returning guests every year, and from the moment you arrive, you'll easily understand why so many people decide to come back again and again.

The site features three traditional Mongolian yurts and one all-wooden yurt, each with its own individual and relaxed style. Set on a raised wooden platform and lined with sheep's wool for extra cosiness, each yurt includes a crackling woodburner, hand-made beds, soft furnishings and twinkling fairy lights to help you unwind by evening.
Cedar-crafted Ash Yurt is ideal for a couple or a small family, complete with a beautiful dome skylight for you to stargaze from the comfort of your bed. Oak Yurt consists of two yurts joined by a small corridor, sleeping a maximum of six people, while traditional Cherry Yurt is ideal for two couples sharing. Finally, Willow Yurt is ideal for a couple with two young children, with its cosy double daybed and two single futons.

You'll find everything you need to enjoy al-fresco meals, with a cast-iron barbecue and camp fire pit to enjoy by evening (don't forget those marshmallows!) and plenty of bench seating.  Firewood and kindling is included, making it easy to sit back, relax and enjoy your surroundings...and your company.

After a sound night's sleep, it's time for some fun! There's plenty of wide open space for the kids - big kids included - to run around and make new adventures in, while those who prefer to spread their wings will soon find they're perfectly placed to indulge in all the pleasures mid-Wales has to offer.

Why not pack up a picnic and head to Lake Vyrnwy, where you can hire some bikes (or Canadian kayaks for the more adventurous!), watch birds and learn to sail? Or enjoy an ice cream and a stroll at Aberdyfi, a fabulous beach with miles of sand dunes.  Meanwhile, a day trip to the stunning Pystyll Rhaeadr waterfalls, set high in the Berwyn Mountains, will be a talking point for days afterwards.

Alternatively, simply take a walk into the local village to stock up on supplies, and then hole yourselves up amongst fresh air and birdsong all relaxing holiday long...the choice is truly yours!

Tried and tested

"We've just returned from a fabulous couple of days staying in 'Cherry' yurt at Strawberry Sky. Superb family run, peaceful and secluded site. The kids had an amazing time. We will definitely be returning with friends and would recommend to anyone."

"We had a wonderful time here with our infant son, we stayed in the wooden ash yurt which stayed cool in the evening despite the heat wave which was a godsend. The owners couldn't have been more helpful, the site has everything you could need and plenty of space between the Yurts. We used the helpful guide the owners proved to choose our daily activities and we would highly recommend these - during our stay we spent a day swimming in the beautiful clear water at Aberdyfi beach, hired bicycles and explored the incredible Lake Vyrnwy, visited Powis Castle, had lovely pub lunch at The Raven Inn and explored some of the more Northern areas to sample the scenery of Snowdonia national park. Overall it was a wonderful break and we are still in awe of how beautiful these areas were, real hidden gems."

"My husband and I have just returned from a lovely weekend away here and we enjoyed it so much, completely chilled out it was so relaxing and tranquil couldn't fault it at all and the owners are so lovely and welcoming. We loved our yurt first time we have stayed in one can't wait to go back will recommend it to all our friends."
