If a cosy thatched cottage in the North Somerset countryside sounds like your idea of romance, it's time to be swept away to The Round House - a hill-top house with views galore and history to boot!

The Round House is a simply gorgeous, Grade II listed former toll house, found on the edge of the charming village of Stanton Drew. Dating back to the 18th century, it's easily identified for its whitewashed walls, dreamy thatched roof and - of course - its circular design! In its former life, The Round House marked a welcome for visitors to the northern entrance of the village, but today, it's ready to welcome you and your loved one for a cosy romantic escape.

Much of The Round House's original charm is still evident today, from the picturesque leaded windows to the pretty thatched porch over the front door. There's even an old post box in the front wall! And, alongside these quirky features from the past, you're guaranteed to find a range of modern comforts for a blissful retreat from the world.

Once you've stepped through the delightful arched doorway, you'll find yourself in The Round House's main living area - a wonderfully welcoming, super snug. circular space, with a fully fitted kitchen area, a table for two and a cosy sitting area. Finished in cream and cheery sky blue, with a flagstone floor, vintage column radiators and original wooden doors, there's a definite ‘country cottage' air to this room. And what more would you expect in such a wonderfully rural spot?

The small but sweet kitchen area offers a kettle and toaster, an electric hob, a microwave/grill and a fridge. You can even enjoy the most sensational scenery while you cook, thanks to the arched window overlooking the beautiful surrounding countryside. The dining table also offers direct views across those rolling pastures, so continue to enjoy that picture-perfect landscape while you dine.

Afterwards, curl up together on the large leather sofa and enjoy your favourite programme on the Smart TV. Or, you could simply relax together over a bottle of wine, soaking up the peaceful stillness of the Somerset countryside.

The perfectly proportioned, fully equipped bathroom is found behind an old wooden door leading from the living area. As well as a shower, a sink and a toilet (topped with an old-fashioned wooden loo seat!), you'll also find plenty of shelves for storing all your toiletries!

You'll discover the romantic bedroom on the floor above, at the top of a steep but short flight of stairs leading from the living area. With original beams overhead, stunning arched shutters at the windows and an exquisite wooden floor, you and your partner can look forward to tranquil nights of blissful dreaming in this truly beautiful bedroom.

After you've woken to stunning views, plan your day ahead over cups of coffee and your favourite breakfast. Stanton Drew's beautiful listed buildings are just a two-minute wander down the hill, as is The Druid's Arms pub, which serves outstanding food and drink. For a magnificent romantic sunset stroll, head to the awe-inspiring Stanton Drew Stone Circle - simply incredible! The larger village of Chew Magna is just three minutes away by car, with a pub, cafés and a range of shops for essentials. And you're also perfectly placed for exploring historic Bath and bustling Bristol, both of which are just a half-hour drive away.

You could, however, simply spend every moment at The Round House. After all, with such character, charm and sensational views, who would ever want to leave this beautiful hill-top bolthole?
