Sparrows Campsite
England / Halstead, Essex
Full description
A gloriously laid-back, dog-and-eco-friendly haven in rural Essex, with furnished bell tents and wild camping pitches to accommodate all holiday tastes.
Sparrows Campsite is a true labour of love by friendly owner Charlie Butler, who spent much of his childhood blissfully immersed in the green fields and magical woodlands of rural Essex.
Determined to create a sanctuary that would help others create their own happy memories in the unspoilt Great Outdoors, Charlie set his relaxing campsite in the heart of the farm on which he spent his very first night under canvas.
And so, you'll find the site's collection of furnished bell tents and wild camping pitches amongst a stunning wildflower meadow, surrounded by ancient woodland that begs to be explored.
With a lake and a sparkling waterfall close by, not to mention a nature reserve practically on the doorstep, there's plenty to tempt you from your screens. And since the campsite is soothingly off-grid, you'll have no choice but to give in!
Ideal for relaxed group breaks, up to 24 guests can be accommodated in the furnished bell tents, which each sleep up to 4, on an exclusive hire basis.
Choose from three individual bell tent ‘settlements', each one beautifully named after a variety of trees in the surrounding woodland, and boasting furnishings that have been expertly crafted from that very same wood. You'll also find each tent equipped with beds that feature soft pillows and linens, so all you've got to pack is a towel and a sleeping bag.
Each settlement is surrounded by a woven fence barrier for that blissful feeling of seclusion amongst nature, and there's a campfire and an outdoor dining area to enjoy by evening.
Oh, and not forgetting toilets and hot showers, to which you'll have easy access... yet there's also a compost loo handily positioned by each settlement, for any night-time emergencies!
Prefer getting back to nature in your own tent? There are several wild camping pitches beautifully scattered around the site, each with their own private campfire and picnic table. You'll not only enjoy access to the campsite facilities, but you'll also have your own separate compost loo.
With everything you need so wonderfully covered by Sparrows Campsite, all you've got to do is re-connect with the Great Outdoors! Perhaps bring your bike along and explore all the area has to offer...
But if you don't want to travel too far afield, you could always indulge in some fun outdoor games, or simply grab yourself a hammock, open up a good book, and let your mind carry you blissfully away on the breeze.
Things to note
Larger groups can add additional furnished tents to each settlement for a small extra cost.
