Full description
A soothing, off grid, eco-and-dog-friendly retreat for nature lovers and adventurous spirits, perfectly secluded between a beach and a lake in North Norfolk.

Sleeping up to five guests, Snettisham Beach House is designed for families who love immersing themselves fully in the sights, sounds, and fresh-air adventure of unspoilt nature. Think abundant wildlife, sea spray, and long, joyful wellie-walks with wet dogs and huge skies.

Enjoying a glorious position at the gateway to North Norfolk, not only will you overlook the windswept beach, but the house also backs onto a natural saltwater lake that's perfect for messing around on in boats!

Powered by solar panels and a wind turbine, the charming wooden house is completely off-grid, and was lovingly renovated by friendly owner Darryll herself.

Inside, you'll discover plenty of cheerful light and space, elegantly furnished with vintage-style fabric and quirky accessories that just compel you to relax. There are also plenty of candles on hand to help give your evenings an irresistible glow, as you catch up on life with your favourite people.

To start with, there's a sea-facing sitting room and a bespoke kitchen, which leads you to a delightful day room. Equipped with a log fire and a comfy table and chairs, this is an ideal place to get lost in the pages of a good book.

Not that you'll want to spend too much time inside! On sunny days you can simply throw open the bi-folding doors, grab a drink, and head to the patio area, with its sparkling lake views. Meanwhile, the gorgeously furnished, sea-facing al fresco dining space is a joy to spend time in, chatting away with your loved ones as you listen to the tide rolling languorously in and out.

(You'll even find an outdoor shower with three butler sinks... ideal for washing muddy toes - and paws - after a day on the beach!)

Slumber-wise, there are three cosy, homely rooms to choose from; one double, one twin, and one single - and you'll also find a double sofa bed in the day room.

Wake up and prepare a hearty, home-cooked breakfast... the kind you'll need to set you up for a day of fresh-air exploration! With a bird reserve and a sailing club close by, not to mention some wonderful coastal walks, this beautiful part of the world is truly your oyster.

You'll find Darryll brimming with suggestions for sightseeing and eating out, but why not start in style, with the Michelin-starred, family-run The Old Bank in Snettisham village? There are plenty of pubs with deep sofas, farm shops, and quirky local emporiums to browse through, too.

Meanwhile, for an unforgettable sunset, simply head for nearby Hunstanton - otherwise known as ‘Sunny Hunny' - and put some icing on this delicious holiday cake.

Things to note

Check in from 3pm. The house is fully off-grid, so if visiting in the winter, please prepare for short battery life and a need to light the fires early!
