Slate Cabin - Caban Llechi
Wales / Machynlleth, Powys
Full description
An idyllic, award-winning hideaway for two, secluded on a working farm with panoramic views over the Dyfi Valley, out towards the soaring Snowdonia mountains.
Purposely positioned on a peaceful working farm, Slate Cabin showcases the Welsh landscape at its most incredible.
An award-winning hideaway featured on the Netflix documentary ‘Cabins in the Wild', the adults-only retreat looks out over the lush Dyfi Valley, leading your gaze towards the Snowdonia mountains, including Cader Idris and Aran Fawddwy.
Perfect for a romantic couple in need of a serene escape, you can feast your eyes on those soul-soothing views from wherever you happen to be... enjoying a lazy cuppa in bed, cradling a glass of wine at the window seat, or toasting marshmallows on the firepit.
Inspired by the celebrated Welsh slate industry, the cabin is stylish yet simple, with a clever, compact design that makes the most of available space. There's a pull-up table that's perfect for two, while the downy kingsize bed elevates and transforms into a sumptuous sofa at the mere touch of a button.
Flooded with natural light by day, there's a pot-bellied wood-burning stove to give your evenings a warm glow. Curl up with a book in front of the long window, get lost in conversation from the comfy ‘butterfly' chairs, or unwind in front of the Smart TV... your choice!
Oh, and in case you were wondering about facilities, there's a well-equipped kitchenette for romantic suppers (you'll be welcomed with tea, coffee, and a selection of tasty Welsh delicacies, too), and a luxurious rainfall shower to help invigorate your mornings.
If you can get up early enough, brew some coffee and sit out on the elevated patio for the most beautiful sunrise you're ever likely to see... a wonderful way to begin a new day in this glorious part of the world.
To explore even more of it, all you have to do is lace up your walking boots. Glyndwr's Way, one of only three National Trails in Wales, is right on your doorstep, leading you through pristine woodland, unspoilt moorland, and dense, wildlife-steeped forest.
Pack a picnic and sit by the picturesque river Dyfi for some more uninterrupted ‘you-and-me' time. If you like, you can track its flowing journey through the UNESCO Dyfi Biosphere, and past the bustling market town of Machynlleth, filled with creative galleries and independent shops.
End your journey where the river flows into the sea at Aberdyfi, a scenic harbour village just 18 miles away - perhaps trying out a few watersports while you're there!
Yet with a pub, shop, and café just a mile away, you're free to stay put at Slate Cabin for as long as you like, languorously whiling the day away with nothing to do. That is, until it's time to light the firepit and greet the arrival of the stars in that vast, wide-open sky.
Things to note
Check in at 4pm, check out by 9am. The cabin is suitable for two adults only, children and pets are not permitted.
