A cosy Lake District converted carriage hideaway for two, set on the scenic banks of the River Marron.

Keen walkers, rail enthusiasts and lovers of lakes will all rejoice on a break at River Marron Carriage, an authentic 1950s Pullman railway carriage beautifully set on the banks of - you guessed it! - the River Marron.

Ideal for a romantic couple (and their energetic dog!), you'll find plenty of traditional features throughout the lovingly restored carriage.  Simply take the metal steps and enter straight into the cosy lounge, where you will feel immediately welcome.  Plush, colourful chairs and vintage accessories are surrounded by windows that overlook the sparkling river.

You may feel inclined to put the kettle on immediately for a relaxing brew...or alternatively, make like Tom Cruise and mix a cocktail at the quirky bar!

The kitchen area is light and lovely, equipped with everything you'll need to whip up holiday feasts.  Meanwhile, you can dine in a genuine carriage booth complete with seating, ideal for those who love to travel first-class.

Catch up with your favourite TV shows in the lounge on rainy days, or soak up the sun on the elevated decking area, as you admire the river views over a glass of bubbles.

When it's time to turn in, you'll find the bespoke bedroom equipped with a grand, gorgeously dressed ‘wow-factor' bed that's the perfect spot for lazy lie-ins.  There's even a separate dressing cabin, equipped with an indulgent dressing table and plenty of storage and hanging space.  Freshen up in the en-suite shower room at the end of the carriage, complete with flushing WC.

The local shops are located five miles from the carriage, and a local country pub even closer by!  Perhaps plan your pub visit as a treat after exploring the area - you'll soon discover that your location is an ideal starting point for taking in the charms of the Western Lake District and nearby coast (translation: don't forget those trusty walking boots!)

Not only is your carriage situated on the outskirts of the Lake District National Park, but the tranquil Loweswater Lake and Ennerdale Water are a mere short drive away...ideal for letting your dog run off some energy!

The traditional village of Cockermouth is within easy reach too, teeming with independent shops, pubs and coffee-stop cafes.  If you're in the mood for some culture and heritage, why not take a tour around the Jennings Brewery, or see a show at the Kirkgate Centre?

Head back to your romantic railway carriage by evening, and fire up the woodburner-effect fire as you open a bottle of wine at the bar.  Immersed in magical riverside charm, it's time to relax and reconnect.
