Rest on the Hill is a luxury self-catering holiday home near Oswestry in Shropshire, close to the border of England and Wales.  Finished in 2015, it was designed by the award-winning architectural team at Architecture M in Manchester, and effortlessly combines style, comfort and green credentials in this blissful location.

Sleeping four in total, Rest on the Hill is an ideal escape for two couples, an older family or simply one couple looking to enjoy a romantic retreat. Arrive to a bottle of bubbles to help recover from your journey, or for that extra special occasion, arrange for flowers, Champagne or a luxurious massage treatment during your stay. These touches, combined with Rest on the Hill’s beautiful furnishings and finishes, evoke the feeling of a five-star hotel, all the while providing the privacy of your own accommodation.

Moreover, every effort has been taken to ensure that Rest on the Hill is the highest in energy efficiency standards. Complete with solar panels, an air-source heat pump, underfloor heating, heat recovery ventilation and rainwater harvesting, the architects have ensured that eco-friendliness need not be compromised by style and elegance.

Central to Rest on the Hill is the large open-plan living area, with floor-to-ceiling windows providing unmatchable views of the Berwyn Mountains. Flooded with light, the living area is a lovely space for relaxing back to watch the large HD television, eating at the large dining table, or cooking up a storm in the modern, fully-fitted kitchen. Whatever you may be doing though, that amazing view is sure to take your breath away every time you look up!

With the window opening out to a series of decks that lead towards the valley below, enjoy fine weather around the outdoor dining table while your dinner gently smokes on the BBQ. With the sun setting behind Gyrn Moelfre and the stars appearing in the crystal clear skies, you’ll feel a million miles from ‘real life’ as you soak up the glorious surroundings and take time to appreciate every second.

Both bedrooms are equally luxurious; offering handmade super king Harrison beds and mattresses, complete with gorgeous linen and soft feather pillows and duvets, there’s no doubt of a peaceful night’s sleep at Rest on the Hill. Each bedroom has its own en suite bathroom, where walk-in showers can be configured to rain-dance or waterfall options as you enjoy the warm, soft-filtered rainwater from the roof. Soft towels and fluffy bathrobes add a touch of opulence.

While you may simply wish to spend your days basking in that magnificent view from this gorgeous home, there are plenty of ways to spend your time during your stay at Rest on the Hill. Take long walks in the surrounding countryside (maps can be provided with routes starting at the door!), or perhaps explore the market town of Oswestry. With no shortage of fantastic pubs and restaurants to sample, as well as the StoneHouse Brewery for touring and tasting award-winning ales, foodies will be in their element here. The owner lives on site so can help with advice on where to sample the best local produce or, the best farm shops to buy it from for home cooking.

A little further afield, a half-hour drive takes you to the beautiful town of Llangollen, famous for its many attractions and the International Eisteddfod if you’re visiting in July. Journey into Mid-Wales to visit the Lake Vernwy reservoir, and enjoy walking or cycling before your reward of scones and cream on the terrace of Lake Vernwy Hotel. And if it’s seaside you’re after, the North Wales Coast is easily reachable, following a scenic drive through Snowdonia National Park and then on to Barmouth Bay.

Of course, you may simply wish to enjoy every available moment at Rest on the Hill. And with these surroundings and this level of luxury, we’d hardly blame you!

On request the owner can arrange for a daily cleaning service, supermarket deliveries, flowers, champagne or a relaxing massage. Disability accessible: Rest on the Hill benefits from extra wide doorways and large wet rooms, plus no steps anywhere on the property. Please check with the owner if you have any specific questions.
