Full description
A deliciously secluded former smugglers' inn set along the Hampshire coast, where the beach is your back garden.

Discovered on a windswept beach, at the end of an isolated track through private woodland, rest assured that your journey to Pitts Deep Cottage will be just as enchanting as the cottage itself!

Perfectly positioned between the New Forest and the Solent, the atmospheric beach is dotted with pebbles, salt marsh and mud flats. Framed by ancient whispering oaks, the views here are truly outstanding, and it's incredibly easy to imagine the area's dramatic history, when smugglers accessed the shore from the channel known as The Pitts Deep.

Pitts Deep Cottage itself enjoyed a former life as a brandy-selling inn, back in the eighteenth century. Fast-forward to the twenty-first, and you'll find this holiday haven infused with plenty of exquisite style and cosy creature comforts that are more than worthy of the most indulgent breaks.

Sleeping up to nine guests who want to escape fast daily life and unwind slowly by the sea, you'll find a selection of five beautifully-dressed bedrooms here. Discover two king-sized rooms, a small double, a bunk room and a twin, all featuring amazing views.

Hazy 1930s parquet flooring, vintage rugs, fresh white walls and eclectic pieces of art will adorn your way, as you wander through the house and marvel at the original features given a brand-new lease of life.

A blend of contemporary and unique furniture provides style and comfort, while the light, bright open-plan kitchen and dining area is the perfect communal catch-up space, with a windows that look straight out to sea. Later on, why not move to the squishy sitting room sofas and relax in front of the woodburning stove, complete with a snifter of ‘smuggled' brandy?

You'll find a roomy family bathroom upstairs, while the downstairs wet room is the perfect spot to wash those sandy toes. Elsewhere, the glass conservatory is the ideal place to curl up and enjoy all those marvellous sea views...whatever the weather.

A large wooden beach viewing deck allows you to keep an eye on the kids and watch yachts gliding past, as you cradle a steaming mug of coffee and cast your gaze out to the Isle of Wight. At low tide, you may even receive a few friendly visits from the New Forest ponies and donkeys!

Beside lazing on the beach, the New Forest stretches out for miles, and offers a dazzling array of superb walking and cycling routes. After an energetic day out, why not return to the cottage, light a bonfire and organise a chef to whip up a delicious fish stew, right there on the sand?

Those hankering after a touch of town life can head into Lymington, just three miles away and boasting street markets, plus a bustling high street packed with shops to browse through.

Perfect for lovers of easy tranquility, outstanding views and a taste of life in the slow lane, a visit to Pitts Deep Cottage may just convert you to breezy coastal living for good!
