Get your ticket to ride at Pigeon Door, where three fabulously quirky, converted double-decker buses promise you the trip of a lifetime!
Located on a peaceful smallholding in the Shropshire countryside, you'd never expect to find these amazing buses, furnished and ready for guests to enjoy a truly unique stay. Choose from Betsy Blue, Billie and Beetie - all large enough for a family (and even the dog!), and all complete with their own private garden and hot tub for added luxury.
Betsy Blue, a Leyland Atlanteen double-decker bus, dates back to 1981. Ingeniously converted, she now sleeps five between her three heated bedrooms. The double room is perfect for parents. A bunk-bed room and a further single room are ideal for kids, who will love the thrill of sleeping on the top deck! There's also room for a travel cot if you're traveling with a little one.
Downstairs, the fully equipped kitchen makes for the most unusual self-catering experience you'll surely ever have, and has everything you need for your stay. Tea, coffee and sugar are also provided for that cuppa on arrival. The seating area, complete with TV and DVD, turns into a stylish dining space. Enjoy views across the Stretton Hills and keep toasty by the flame-effect stove.
A separate private bathroom comes complete with a shower, toilet and heated dressing area, as well as a wardrobe, hairdryer and ironing board. With toiletries, towels and all linen supplied, you don't need to worry about bringing your own! And with your own private garden to enjoy - as well as your hot tub - enjoy hot summer days relaxing outside your bus.
Billie is a 1990 West Midlands ‘Wumpty' bus! With a little more space, she sleeps six between two double rooms and a bunk-bed room. There is also room for a travel cot. Light and airy inside, you might forget you're sleeping in a bus at all! The living and dining area come with the brilliant addition of the original bus seats for a truly authentic experience. From the kitchen and living area to the outdoor private garden and hot tub, Billie enjoys similar fantastic features as Betsy Blue, but has her own downstairs wet room.
For something a little bit different, Beetie is Pigeon Door's most recent addition, and is located in her own separate field. Now retired from the Travel de Courcey fleet, she offers the most spacious accommodation of the three. Beetie sleeps six between three beautifully finished bedrooms. The larger double room enjoys amazing panoramic views of the Shropshire countryside, while the smaller double has a skylight - perfect for stargazing as you drift off to sleep! There is also a bunk-bed room, and space for a travel cot.
As the largest bus of the fleet, Beetie accommodates a dressing table on the landing with a hairdryer, as well as a downstairs wet room. Like Billie, Beetie also features the original bus seats in the living and dining area. Outside, as well as your own private garden, you also get to enjoy an 8ft-wide, wood-fired, wooden hot tub - there's certainly no forgetting your stay here!
The buses are set in three-quarters of an acre each beyond their private gardens. The smallholding also has stabling, so bring your horse along too for a gallop around the countryside! Based in Ryton, you're just over five miles from the historic town of Shrewsbury for days out, and just north of the Shropshire Hills - perfect for walking, cycling and photography.
Further afield is the Welsh border to the west and the city of Birmingham to the south-east. The popular attraction of Alton Towers is also in easy distance - great for a family day out.
Holidays are all about making memories, and there's surely no better way to make them than with a stay on a double-decker bus! So plan your route, pack your bags, and get ready to ride at Pigeon Door.
