Overton Cabin
Scotland / Fintry, Stirlingshire
Full description
An eco-friendly ‘tiny house', soothingly nestled on a working farm with spectacular views of Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park.
Beautifully positioned in the rolling Campsie and Fintry hills, Overton Farm is an ideal base for exploring central Scotland's magnificent natural beauty.
Not only is Fintry is part of the iconic Crow Road Loop cycle route, you can also test your wheels on the nearby Carron Valley Reservoir bike trails... or pull on your hiking boots to tackle the Meikle Bin Circular Walk, where you'll be rewarded with sweeping rural views.
Or you could simply stay holed up in your glass-fronted farm cabin, and savour the views without going anywhere at all!
An expertly crafted ‘tiny house' retreat that sleeps up to four guests, you'll feel as though you're the only people around, as you chat with your loved ones against an exquisite backdrop of rustling trees, green fields, and rolling hills.
You won't have to worry about your carbon footprint, either. The cabin is semi off-grid, with pure, filtered water direct from the nearby hill spring, a supply of bottled gas for cooking, a state-of-the-art compost loo, and electricity provided by solar panels.
There's also a gorgeous south-facing glass conservatory, which not only provides a beautiful setting for sundowners, but also works as a ‘heater' for the entire cabin, even on cloudy days.
Indeed, everything you'll need for a relaxing holiday can be found right here. A well-equipped kitchen means you can rustle up hearty breakfasts, light lunches, and lazy suppers with ease (to make the most of available space, the kitchen counter has been cleverly incorporated into the stairs).
Meanwhile, a charming shower room, equipped with plenty of fluffy towels, ensures you can freshen up after a long day of exploring!
When it's time to turn in, there are two dreamy sleeping spaces to choose from. The kingsize bed-equipped loft features a stargazing window, to help you drift off to a sound night's sleep, while the living area is equipped with a comfy double sofa bed.
When daylight calls, there's plenty of wide-open space to get blissfully lost in just outside - including plenty of scope for invigorating morning hill walks! - while the friendly village of Fintry is home to an alehouse and a courtyard café, for those all-important pit stops. Oh, and if you're a fan of waterfalls, the tumbling, 94ft Loup of Fintry is a mere three miles away.
End yet another glorious day in the Scottish countryside with a glass of wine around the crackling chiminea, chatting and laughing with your loved ones as day turns to star-sprinkled night.
(Or, stay inside and enjoy the cabin's fabulous home cinema experience instead, complete with screen projector and Google Chromecast. The choice is yours!)
