One of the most diverse islands in the Helsinki archipelago, Vallisaari is home to hundreds of plant and animal species, including many rare, colourful butterflies.

It’s here that you’ll discover Nolla Cabin, commissioned by a renewable energy company, and created by the Finnish designer and craftsman Robin Falck, to minimise emissions and waste.

In this beautiful 9m2 cabin, you and your loved one can live a blissfully simple, off-grid life that’s as close to nature as possible.  Two camp beds are perfectly positioned for you to view the archipelago in all its shimmering glory, while the small, clever cooking nook means you can whip up plenty of tasty snacks.

here’s no running water in the cabin; instead, dry toilets are just a short walk away, while natural bathing is taken care of in the sea.  Use the sea to explore, too, with Helsinki city centre a mere 20-minute boat ride away.

Better still, the proceeds from your stay will be donated to a project dedicated to eliminating plastic from the world’s oceans, meaning you’ll sleep even easier under the Helsinki stars.
