Full description
Peaceful, scenery-showcasing chalets set far from the beaten tourist track, on the unspoilt slopes of Slovenia's remote Kuk Mountain.
Featuring just four immaculate, minimalist chalets-for-two that overlook the breathtaking Soca Valley, Nebesa feels like a wonderfully well-kept secret.
Nebesa translates as "heaven", a description which simply couldn't be more apt. Once you've completed your journey through the clouds, then cast a captivated gaze over glorious snow-capped mountains and winding green valleys that lead straight down to the rippling Adriatic Sea, you're sure to agree.
Blessed tranquility is assured here, too, with your nearest neighbours over one kilometre away. And with onsite treats including a dedicated dining room filled with ‘help yourself' goodies, and a wellness centre that features relaxing Finnish, herbal and infra-red saunas, you'll have all you need to unwind in the most exquisite way possible.
Friendly owners Katja and Bojan and their daughter Maja and Samo are on hand to welcome you, and you'll find them full of suggestions for local activities - as well as tales of the area's fascinating history.
Now it's time to settle into your stylish chalet, positioned along the mountain to ensure you don't miss a single moment of those magnificent views.
Not only does each include a private, furnished terrace, but the chalet's front is made entirely of glass...so the scenery can truly become part of your living experience. For starters, why not see if you can spot one of the many red deer ambling their way through the surrounding meadow?
The chalets each sleep two people in a mezzanine attic bedroom, beneath a gently eaved ceiling. Downstairs you'll find a well-equipped kitchenette, while the spacious open-plan living room is ideal for curling up with a mug of coffee and immersing yourselves in the landscape (there's also a TV and DVD player, along with WiFi, should you need them).
To ensure those panoramic views can take centre-stage, décor throughout is refreshingly minimal. You'll also find plenty of thoughtful touches to make you feel stupidly cosy, including a huge, heated towel rail in the bathroom, soft robes, and some delicious snacks.
Head for the communal kitchen and dining room for light meals of locally cured meats and cheeses, all washed down with regional wine. The supermarket is a fifteen-minute drive away, if you prefer dining in your chalet - or with the world-famous restaurant Hiša Franko (chef Ana Ros is daughter of Nebesa owners Katja and Bojan) within easy reach, why not treat yourselves to something a little more special?
Spend your days hiking further up the mountain - recommended for some of the most amazing views of both Slovenia and Italy - borrow a mountain bike, or take the opportunity to recharge in the wellness centre, which includes three saunas offering aromatherapy and chromotherapy. There's also a small gym, if you don't want to skip your daily yoga sessions!
There are endless activities on offer in the valleys, including pony trekking, winter skiing, or even white-water rafting along the Soca river if you're up for some adventure.
The centre of Livek Village is just over a mile away, while history buffs will enjoy a trip to the nearby Kobarid Museum, which tells captivating stories about the local events of World War I.
Perfect for holing up with your loved one and escaping the world, or for absorbing yourselves in Slovenian mountain life, Nebesa promises to paint you a soul-soothing picture of what living in heaven is really like.
Things to note
No children permitted, unless all four cabins are booked for a total of 8 guests.
