Full description
A romantic rural escape to the serenity and dark stargazing skies of the wildlife-steeped North Tyne Valley.

With no WiFi or TV to speak of, an escape to Manor House Shepherd's Hut is the perfect excuse to unplug and recharge in soothing comfort, enjoying the most spectacular countryside views in the process.

Located in the North Tyne Valley, the authentic shepherd's hut is privately secluded within the immaculate grounds of a Grade II-listed manor house. Overlooking a paddock that's home to the resident alpacas, and with dark stargazing skies above, you're sure to feel in rural heaven!

The hut itself has been beautifully constructed, with light, bright décor and cosy furnishings to make you feel immediately at home.

There's a crackling log burning stove to warm your evenings, along with soft leather chairs, and a sofa that cleverly transforms into a double bed when it's time to turn in.

A selection of books and games have been thoughtfully provided, along with a DAB radio to help you set the perfect background mood, as you chat away with your loved one over a welcome glass of wine.

Facilities-wise, you'll find a handy kitchenette inside the hut, complete with all those holiday essentials including an electric hob, fridge, microwave, toaster and kettle. Meanwhile, you'll find a private shower room and WC nearby, in a converted pig sty.

Head outside to the garden to enjoy your morning coffee - there's a firepit and a barbecue out there too, in case you feel like doing some marshmallow toasting under the stars later on.

How to spend the rest of your time? If you love the Great Outdoors, you're in serious luck. The hut's grounds are set within the sleepy village of Birtley, which really could have been custom-made for walkers and cyclists! Standing high on a ridge that's 700 feet above sea level, you can enjoy truly unsurpassed views out to the North Pennines and the Wark Forest.

Otherwise, take a stroll along the banks of the North Tyne River to spot wildlife galore - including red squirrels, deer, and otters.

There are plenty of pretty, bustling villages to visit, including medieval Hexham, and Corbridge, the ‘Jewel in the Northumberland Crown' with its 7th century church built with stones from Hadrian's Wall.

If you fancy travelling slightly further afield, hop in the car and head for Kielder Water, which is perfect for watersports of every description.
