Lymm Water Tower Suites
England / Lymm, Cheshire
Stay in an all-time Grand Designs favourite: a multi-award-winning, architect-restored Victorian water tower, complete with hot tub and roof garden that overlooks the rolling Cheshire countryside.
Soaring 95ft above the Cheshire countryside, with views that stretch all the way out to the hills of Wales and the peaks of Derbyshire, Lymm Water Tower is no ordinary family home.
One of Kevin McCloud's personal Grand Designs favourites, the TV-featured tower has won multiple awards for its innovative, master architect-led restoration.
The result is a strikingly unique combination of stark original features, such as a medieval castle-style spiral staircase, and sleek, futuristic elements that include designer bathtubs and award-winning lighting.
Oh, and the roof garden is home to superlative 360° country views, relaxing sun loungers, and a stylish teak hot tub!
Though the water tower itself is a much-loved family residence, you can stay in one of its two five-star, self-contained suites... an opportunity for sublime romantic relaxation that really shouldn't be missed.
The two-floor Master Suite comes complete with its own entrance up a stone spiral staircase. Once inside the gorgeous open plan, double height space, you'll note that no sense of creative detail has been spared.
The kingsize, handmade Duxiana bed is perfect for lazy lie-ins, while the bathroom ‘floats' cleverly above... so you can carry on chatting as you soak into scented bubbles!
The second storey is home to a walk-in power shower, and a gleaming Lefroy Brookes bathtub. There's an Amazon Fire tablet to help keep you entertained, along with a crystal-clear Lynn sound system, perfect mood lighting... and of course, views to die for.
The Penthouse Suite, meanwhile, boasts a sumptuous open plan lounge, a downy kingsize bedroom, and a designer en-suite - complete with a Philip Starck shower - behind a frosted glass block screen. Just add colour-mixing lighting and awe-inspiring views for a truly sensational effect.
What else? Well, you can enjoy a continental breakfast tray delivered to your room, along with a selection of welcome refreshments. You'll also have access to a dedicated refreshment area, stocked with tea and coffee making facilities, a fridge - and of course, the obligatory glasses and ice!
Guests are also allowed exclusive timed access to that magnificent roof garden and hot tub; an ideal setting for sundowners, morning yoga sessions, or simply lounging with a good book.
While there are plenty of tempting attractions in easy reach, from the local Michelin Star chef-owned pub, and the "world's best pizzas" at nearby Altrincham Market, to the beautiful walks along the Bridgewater Canal - you may just decide to stay ‘at home' instead, and soak up as much of that soothing atmosphere as you can.
Things to note
Check in between 3pm - 7pm, check out by 10am. Please note that as the Tower is a family home, it is requested that guests return to their suite by midnight. Smoking and food are not permitted in either suite. There is no TV in the Master Suite.
