Full description
A 15th century tower house with a majestic ‘castle' feel, perfect for a private family stay just ten minutes from central Edinburgh.

Sleeping up to four people in regal seclusion, Liberton Tower is the perfect setting for those who want to be Kings or Queens of their very own ‘castle'!

Child and dog-friendly, and just ten minutes from the bustling centre of Edinburgh, the beautifully restored 15th century tower is ideal for a city break that's imbued with ancient legend and rustic luxury.

Enter the two-storey Tower via its exterior wooden staircase, which will lead you straight into the awe-inspiring Great Hall on the first floor. An irresistibly relaxing living and dining space with an authentic oak beamed ceiling, here you'll discover a gorgeous log fire, antique furniture, and a heated, rug-covered flagstone floor.

Tapestry wall hangings and a refectory table complete the grandly historic feel to a room you'll surely find it hard to tear yourselves away from (there's even a small TV and a DVD player, for when you're all talked out).

In the mood for a banquet? Take the stone staircase down to the well-equipped kitchen, complete with vaulted ceiling and original iron grail. You'll also find plenty of culinary mod cons, including that all-important dishwasher.

The family bathroom is also on this floor, featuring an indulgent bath and a refreshing over-bath shower.

When it's time to turn in, simply head for the welcoming comfort of two cosy adjoining bedrooms. The sumptuous master room is equipped with a downy, kingsize four-poster bed (what else?), while the twin room includes its own WC and sink.

There's also a ladder in the twin room that leads up to the Tower's stone parapet walkway; a supreme vantage point that showcases spectacular Edinburgh views, all the way out to Arthur's Seat and the Salisbury Crags.

Linger awhile over that arresting scenery, take the dog for an invigorating walk in the grounds, or immerse yourselves in city bustle instead. Mere minutes away by car, you can also head into Edinburgh's thriving centre by hopping on one of the regular buses that pass the end of the drive.

Buzzing with charm, character, and unique culture, there's always something happening in Edinburgh, from the Festival Fringe in August, the International Science, Book, Film and Storytelling Festivals through the seasons, and of course, those famous Hogmanay celebrations at the beginning of each new year.

Indeed, there's so very much to take in, that you might decide just the one royal visit simply isn't enough.
