Full description

Enchanting natural woodland living with lashings of style in Ryedale on the edge of the undiscovered Yorkshire Wolds.

If you're looking for a nature-inspired family or group escape full of fun, creativity and indulgence all rolled into one, look no further than Jollydays Glamping - your 200-acre North Yorkshire home-from-home that promises to transform your expectations of the great outdoors!

You'll be in exceptionally good hands at Jollydays, a family-run camp lovingly nurtured by Christian and Carolyn Van Outersterps, award-winning ex-designers who started their beloved Jollydays back in 2008, earning accolades and endless repeat visitors with their firm focus on fun and comfort alongside their trademark attention to style.

On site, you'll find unique outdoor accommodation in styles to suit all tastes, generously spaced over 15 acres of the 200 acre woodland, leaving you with plenty of room to unwind and take in the refreshingly authentic sights, sounds and smells of nature - the perfect antidote to a hectic suburban lifestyle! To maintain respect for the natural environment, Jollydays is proud to be a  member of the Green Tourism Business Scheme, the only scheme of its kind to have been validated by Visit Britain.

The communal evening campfire is where everybody congregates for that all-important marshmallow toasting...and who knows what firm friends you'll make, whether it's the family in the tent across the way, or even a passing fox or hare!  Hot water is readily provided, as are comfy beds with fresh bedding, and for a fancy a cosy night under the stars.

Much bigger than a traditional shepherd's hut are the cosy and spacious Woodcutter's Huts, sleeping four people on one kingsize bed and a double sofa.  Double-glazed with warm tweed décor, these huts have a homely feel you'll find hard to leave.  Along with gas rings and a barbecue there's a small woodburning stove to keep everyone toasty, and rain definitely won't stop play with your hut's very own awning, perfect for chatting outside long into the night - maybe with a glass of something fizzy in hand!

For larger families and groups, the Lodge Tents provide an enormous 800 square feet of tent space, sleeping six people on a four-poster, twin beds and a double sofa bed.  These truly impressive tents even have their own toilet, shower and roll-top bath, with endless hot water - not to mention a spacious veranda for entertaining and games.

The Woodland Tents add a little extra touch of country style for those really special occasions, or maybe just because you deserve it!  The same size as the Lodge Tents, you can look forward to relaxing by the wood burner, surrounded by rustic décor to make you feel like genuine woodland royalty.

There's even a clay pizza oven on site, along with a communal hob and barbecue if you find yourself entertaining hungry guests!  Or you can even grab a convenient appetite-quashing snack at the onsite cafe bar, open Wednesday to Sunday.

You'll find there's plenty to do in the local area to keep the whole family entertained, with many local festivals and agricultural shows staged throughout the year.  Families are well provided for in Ryedale and Jollydays have their own online brochure full of ideas for your stay, both onsite and offsite. If you'd rather spend time on site, there are plenty of rolling hilltop views and invigorating walks around the camp that are guaranteed to keep you energised for days.  Those spending two nights or more at the camp also have access to the fairy trail at Northwood included in their stay, the first of its kind in England, set in a 100-acre magical woodland!

Further afield, just 20 minutes away is ‘Brideshead' itself, Castle Howard, a baroque mansion complete with farm shop and children's adventure playground.  For history buffs, the nearby Eden Camp is an old Italian prisoner of war camp that tells a picturesque story of the Second World War.

If you're seeking a more indulgent break, the beautiful town of York is only a 20 minute drive away, featuring the famous Betty's tea rooms and an inviting array of shops.  Why not stop off at the nearby Talbot Hotel for afternoon tea, or spend a day hiking in the hills to earn yourself a hot, filling supper at the Star Inn, a 14th century thatched inn complete with gourmet restaurant, just 40 minutes drive from the camp?

There's no need to worry about the little ones getting bored, with so much open space full of nature's bounty ideal for creating memorable outdoor adventures such as den building and bug hunting.  There's also a wooden wendy house and rope swings in the communal area.

Jollydays is also a popular venue for wedding parties and corporate groups looking for a teambuilding morale boost out in the fresh North Yorkshire air, with its own off licence and local suppliers on hand, just waiting to prepare you a mouthwatering selection of seasonal, locally-sourced meals.

So with all that lovely fresh air, natural wildlife and stylish accommodation just waiting for you at Jollydays - what are you waiting for?
