In the Stix
Four unique and ultra-modern geodesic domes, each with their own private kitchens, bathrooms and blissful wood-fired hot tubs in rural Rutland.
When the urge strikes to get away from it all, where better place to go than In The Stix? Promising the chance to reconnect with the great outdoors while staying in a totally unique geodesic dome, you're sure to find the natural refuge you crave in this heavenly area of Rutland.
With incredible glamping in four ultra-modern and imaginatively designed domes, In The Stix encourages you to put down those devices and enjoy quality time with your family and friends (and even make new ones in the process!). With accommodation for four to six guests, each dome - a funky, futuristic vision in white - exudes its own individual style inside, yet all provide the same fantastic levels of comfort.
Whether you choose from Greetham, Barrow, Hambleton or Exton, you'll enter through an arched, wooden door to find yourself in an entrance hall with a handy porch area - great for storing muddy boots and raincoats. This is also where you'll find your dome's first luxury - a private bathroom complete with a shower and flushing toilet (no more compost loos!).
From here, step on through to the half-moon living area, complete with a cosy log-burner and an eclectic range of super-cool furnishings. Sink into the Chesterfield sofa and discover blankets and board games in your trunk/coffee table - sure to keep the whole family completely snuggly and thoroughly entertained. The greatest feature, however, is surely that panoramic window, affording you the most amazing views across the countryside.
Behind a privacy curtain, you'll find the Master ‘bedroom', complete with a glorious king-size bed, bedside tables and lamps (thanks to solar power and 12v lighting that brighten your dome). But where are the rest of the beds? Well, in a totally ingenious twist of design, you'll find them on a mezzanine floor at the top of a space-saver staircase - surely the last thing you'd expect in a glamping dome! The kids will love sleeping up here, not to mention the adults too, whether they opt for one of the two single beds or the sofa-bed (which converts into a king-size bed or two more singles).
Cook up a feast in your private field kitchen - an adjacent structure comprising everything from a table and chairs to tea towels. Try your hand at cooking in the log-burning oven, (which can do anything from pizzas to BBQs), while the two-ring gas stove is perfect for boiling the kettle in a hurry. And after dinner, surely all that's left to do is unwind in your own wood-fired hot tub as the stars shine above - the pinnacle of utter relaxation.
You'll also notice that these incredible domes have been thoughtfully located to ensure seclusion and privacy, without being so far from one another you'd miss out on human interaction altogether! This makes them ideal for hiring together if you're part of a larger group, or indeed for bumping into your fellow glampers to make new connections during your stay. Catch up round the communal campfire, or let the children forge new friendships as they climb trees, build dens, and enjoy some tablet-free childhood pleasures.
There are also plenty more ways to forget the stresses and strains of life in the glorious Rutland countryside beyond In The Stix. Run, walk, cycle, ride, fish, climb and sail - all of which can be done within a short drive of your glampsite. There's also beautiful Oakham to discover (just 10 minutes away), and a whole host of country houses and attractions to visit, from Burghley House (kids will love the Water Garden) to Sacrewell Farm. Rutland may be Britain's smallest county, but there's certainly no lack of things to discover here.
So the next time you get that itch to reconnect with nature, head on out to In The Stix. Whether you stay for a week or a weekend, it's an unbeatable treat for the soul.

Tried and tested
"Absolutely brilliant, great domes, great location, great hosts, lots to do nearby, best family break we've ever had, would highly recommend and would definitely go back."
"Had a wonderful time staying in the domes near Rutland water. The domes we stayed in were beautiful inside with a great wood burner which made things really cosy, even on a chilly April evening. The owners were lovely and made us feel very welcome. We made pizzas in a real wood burning pizza oven which the kids loved. The next day we enjoyed a lovely walk along the brook to nearby Greetham where we had a fabulous Sunday lunch in The Wheatsheaf ( a must visit). Would definitely recommend and will be back again later in the year!"
