Hotel Barge Waternimf
Authentic Dutch-inspired luxury on the majestic waters of the River Great Ouse, where scenic Cambridgeshire style awaits.
The Dutch waterways are renowned for their unique grace and beauty. Now, you can experience the magnificence of Dutch canal life first-hand with a stay on the Hotel Barge Waternimf, a stylishly spacious barge located on the picturesque Ely riverside.
Achingly close to the thriving city with its historic cathedral, you'll also be able to appreciate the soothing tranquillity of living on water, to enjoy a break that offers a little bit of everything!
Originally built in 1906, Waternimf faithfully carried essential cargo along the Dutch waterways before her recent luxury transformation into a welcoming floating hotel that's a perfect river retreat for couples, families and small groups alike.
Light and bright throughout and equipped with oak furnishings, Waternimf features a stylish lounge that's ideal for relaxing, with a dining area perfectly situated under skylights so you can enjoy the sun and the stars in equal measure. The wide decks are a natural choice for summer evenings, accompanied by a glass of bubbles and good conversation with fresh river views.
Choose from five charming double ensuite Dutch-named cabins, all beautifully and comfortably furnished in clean, naturally nautical style. Each featuring a cosy double bed dressed in fresh linen and a deluxe Hypnos mattress, you'll find your cabin is equipped with all the creature comforts of a five-star hotel, with fluffy robes and towels, complimentary toiletries, plenty of storage space and a coffee machine, along with heating and electricity.
For an extra injection of luxury, the Tjalk stern cabin, with its opening skylight and portholes, was the traditional living quarters of the ship's owner and his family. With its freestanding double-ended bath that features bespoke lighting, it's the ideal setting for indulgence at its best!
Throughout your stay, you can also enjoy a tempting selection of breakfast options, along with plenty of complimentary drinks in the open and sociable lounge and dining areas. Friendly crew are on hand throughout to provide daily housekeeping, so all you need to do is relax.
For larger groups who want to celebrate a special event, why not arrange to charter Waternimf, or plan an on-board function with a difference? Cruising options are also available, dependent upon the Great British weather.
Disembarking for days out is made incredibly easy in the delightful city of Ely, with its eclectic array of dining, shopping and entertainment options. History buffs will particularly enjoy exploring the cathedral, or even Oliver Cromwell's house.
With the station just a few minutes' walk away from the riverside, you could easily leave the car at home and enjoy exploring the area on foot or by rail instead.
If you've always harboured a sneaking suspicion that a life on water is for you, why not start with a stay on the Hotel Barge Waternimf and be luxuriously converted for life!
