Grain Store
England / Bibury, Gloucestershire
Full description
An amazingly light, bright and beautiful space for large group stays, surrounded by the picturesque rural splendour of the Cotswolds.
Sleeping up to ten guests, Grain Store is the perfect retreat for groups of family or friends in search of something a little more soothing than the relentless daily grind.
Before you've even set foot inside the stunningly converted storage barn, you're sure to fall in love with its rural surroundings. Not only was the Cotswolds village of Bibury declared "the most beautiful village in England" by none other than William Morris, but people travel from miles around to view the famed Arlington Row, a scenic set of 17th century weavers' cottages that double as the most photographed spot in the Cotswolds.
Of course, you may want to take a few photographs of Grain Store itself once you step inside!
You'll certainly find it hard to believe that this beautifully light, bright space was once a giant storage barn for the farm's harvest. High ceilings and original roof beams imbue a luxurious sense of romance, while feature lighting, sparkling mirrors, and roll-top baths signify pure indulgence.
(Oh, and did we mention there's also a sumptuous hot tub that overlooks the green fields?)
Gather everyone together for welcome drinks in the large, sun-drenched kitchen, where you'll also discover a breakfast island that's ideal for catch-up chats over morning coffee. Celebratory banquets can be savoured at the dining table instead, before you retire to the log burner-equipped lounge with a welcome evening tipple.
Head along the ornate ground floor hallway to discover two superking bedrooms, together with an opulent en-suite. The remaining three superking rooms are upstairs, each one featuring both an en-suite, and magnificent garden views. If you prefer, two of the bedrooms can be made into twins.
After a hearty breakfast, why not get outside and immerse yourselves in all the beauty of the Cotswolds? There are plenty of charming pubs in the local area - ideal stop-off points on an invigorating, natureful stroll. If you decide to potter around in Bibury, a must-visit is the Church of St. Mary, with its elegant stained-glass window designed by none other than Karl Parsons.
Meanwhile, Cirencester, otherwise known as the ‘capital of the Cotswolds', is a short drive away, as is Blenheim Palace for those who prefer a touch of regal grandeur.
Head back to Grain Store to break bread once again with your favourite people, whether you gather at the dining table, or head out to the furnished garden for a sizzling sunset supper.
As the first stars appear in the sky, you may want to charge your glasses and toast your good fortune - because this is one holiday that's bound to stay in everybody's hearts for some time to come.
Things to note
Check in at 4pm, check out by 11am. Up to two dogs are welcome downstairs only, with a cleaning surcharge applicable. No smoking. Stairgate, highchair, and travel cot are available on request.
