Glass Cottage Iceland
Iceland / Hella, Southern Region
Full description
A mesmeric stay in a glistening ‘secret' retreat, with the chance to watch the Northern Lights dance across the sky, right from your bed.
Glass Cottage Iceland offers the chance of a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to watch the Northern Lights dancing across the vast, hypnotic sky... without having to leave the comfort of your cosy bed.
Or, indeed, the comfort of your sumptuous outdoor hot tub!
An ideal setting for the ultimate in romantic escapes, the gleaming cottage-for-two is blissfully isolated on a lava desert in southern Iceland. Surrounded by rugged, enchanting volcanic scenery that's reminiscent of a lunar landscape, you'll feel like the only people in the world.
Inside the cottage, you'll be greeted by clean-lined Nordic style and contemporary furnishings, with every holiday comfort catered for.
There's a well-equipped kitchen, with high-end appliances that include an espresso machine to charge your mornings, while the bathroom not only features a clever two-way mirror effect (so you won't be seen by any passing wildlife!) but showcases awe-inspiring views of some of Iceland's largest volcanoes.
Then there's the bedroom... crafted entirely from glass, so you can drift off to sleep right underneath that huge, ever-changing sky, with its blanket of twinkling stars (and perhaps, if you're lucky, the Northern Lights themselves!)
Greet the sunrise out on your terrace, equipped with a freshly made espresso, as you contemplate the wonders of the day ahead.
Although you'll feel delightfully secluded from the rest of civilisation, the small town of Hella is just five minutes away. Here you'll find a collection of independent shops, peppered with fish markets and street food wagons.
Hella is also perfectly positioned for you to set out on a tour of the famous ‘Golden Circle' route, taking in Thingvellir National Park, the mighty, tumbling Gullfoss waterfall, and the geothermal area in Haukadalur, which is home to Iceland's iconic geysers.
(Once thing's for certain... you won't want to leave your camera behind!)
If you're in the mood to splurge, enjoy a slap-up romantic meal at the Hotel Ranga's four-star restaurant, before making your way back to your secluded glass sanctuary for another wondrous round of stargazing and Northern Lights-spotting.
Things to note
Check in from 4pm, check out by 11am. The cottage is not suitable for children. Pets are permitted by prior arrangement.
