Glamping Thorpe
England / Banbury, Oxfordshire
There's glamping, and then there's Glamping Thorpe - a fun-filled, innovative glamping site like no other, for an escape to the country that's truly out of this world!
Glamping Thorpe is hidden away at a charming Georgian farm on the border of Northamptonshire and Oxfordshire, offering the perfect spot for some rural R&R. Conveniently located just four miles from the M40, it's ideally positioned for small groups who want to get together for whale of a time in the countryside, without going too far off the beaten track.
And once you've arrived at Glamping Thorpe, a remarkable experience lies ahead. With its sensational collection of creative, cosy and ever-so-slightly crazy glamping options, you can be sure of a getaway you'll remember for years to come.
The site is divided into two fields: the Army Field and the Party Field - both offering exactly what they say on the tin! In each, you'll find a carefully converted selection of glamping abodes - the perfect chance for you and your fellow guests to holiday together while enjoying your own space at the same time.
First up, the Army Field is a real hit with military enthusiasts, vintage fans, or anyone who simply enjoys something ‘a little bit different'! Here you'll discover five retired army vehicles, ingeniously transformed into cosy glamping spots. With each sleeping two apiece, groups of up to 10 people can enjoy the sights and sounds of the countryside while experiencing a piece of military history too!
Relive the days of Captain Mainwaring with a stay in the 1940s WW2 Home Guard Trailer, decked out with patriotic union flags, or perhaps opt for the British Army Camouflage Trailer. The East German Cold War Comms Trailer invites you to play the double agent, while you can embrace your inner Andy McNab in the British SAS Trailer. Alternatively, curl up under camouflage bedding in the Allied Trailer, below a pair of original army-issue skis!
Whichever you choose, rest assured that every unique space offers the same cosy touches for a comfortable stay - including soft mattresses, plush cushions and a toasty woodburner for chilly nights! And when the whole group wants to come together, congregate in the communal tent - a 12x12ft army tent with leather sofas, a fridge freezer and a Bluetooth speaker for your favourite tunes. There's also a couple of pub benches, a BBQ and a fire pit (don't forget the marshmallows), not to mention a composting loo and one more surprise - a shower room made from a 1970s horse trailer!
The Party Field is just as fun as it sounds... Up to eight people can enjoy a once-of-a-lifetime getaway when they stay in its four unique glamping spaces, while larger groups can make use of the two additional bunting-bedecked bell tents, each sleeping six.
Prepare for pink in the 1960s Hippy Caravan - easily identified by the huge pink flower on the side! The 1971 glamped-up Bedford Horse Lorry offers a cosy hideaway, while the Shepherd's Hut offers light and airy traditional charm. Finally, The Love Shack is a red wonder inside, and finished with red-and-white polka dots on the outside!
You'll also find composting loos and another ingenious horse-trailer shower room in the Party Field, while the old pig shed is now home to the party hub. Split into three sections - one for dining, one for chilling and one for discoing - you're sure of a night to remember once the disco lights and sound system are on! Or just relax in front of the woodburner, your dinner gently sizzling on the BBQ. And for one final twist, climb aboard for a ride on David the vintage tractor (best enjoyed with something chilled in hand!).
Whether it's a reunion of family or friends, a special celebration, or a gathering of hens or stags, Glamping Thorpe is the perfect setting to make the occasion a truly unforgettable one. So rally the troops, dig out the glad rags and make it one to remember at Glamping Thorpe!
