Galatee
England / Kings Cross, London
Full description
Experience an oasis of calm and nature in the heart of London, aboard a designer houseboat that's privately and peacefully secluded in Regent's Canal.
Fancy a relaxing getaway from the exhausting hustle and bustle of London... without actually leaving London?
If so, Galatée is the perfect setting. A traditional wide-beam narrow-boat with a scenery-showcasing wheelhouse and a bow deck, she sleeps up to five guests in peaceful comfort on the scenic Regent's Canal, a mere pebble-skim from Granary Square's cultural haven.
Surrounded by lush greenery and abundant wildlife, Galatée boasts a cheery red-painted exterior that will lift your spirits. All you have to do is step aboard, to find every holiday need more than catered for.
There's plenty of light, bright space to relax in, with panoramic canal views, cosy seating, and a warming indoor fireplace for cooler evenings. And in case you thought you'd be short on indoor entertainment, think again! There's a TV and Amazon Echo on hand for when you're all chatted out.
The kitchen area is handily equipped with a double oven, and that all-important espresso machine... though you may prefer to fire up the barbecue for glistening sunset suppers on deck, instead.
If you managed not to fall asleep on the designer sofa bed in the lounge, simply wander along to the comfy bedroom when it's time to turn in. You'll find it furnished with a double and single bed, and a TV with DVD player, so you can drift off to a comforting favourite show.
When morning arrives, why not head straight from the bedroom and out to the dedicated seating area, watching boats and swans glide gently past on the canal? It's the perfect way to begin your day, particularly when you've got a tasty breakfast in the sun-drenched wheelhouse to look forward to.
If you're in no hurry to explore (and why would you be?), you could freshen up in the shower room, then do nothing but curl up in the hammock with a glass of wine and a good book... what bliss!
But if the call of civilisation proves too loud to ignore, you can take the charming clinker-built rowing boat for a short trip to Granary Square, which you'll find teeming with pubs and restaurants.
If you're in the mood, you could travel slightly further along to Camden Market, passing serene locks and colourful narrowboats on your way.
Wear yourselves out in the heart of London for as long as you like, safe in the knowledge that when it's time to kick back and relax, your tranquil floating haven will be ready and waiting for you to return.
Things to note
Flexible check-in time, check out by 10am. Pets are not permitted.
