Fernie Castle Treehouse
A romantic luxury treehouse hideaway in the grounds of a 14th century Scottish castle.
Think treehouses are just for kids? Then think again. Fernie Castle Treehouse is a truly romantic hideaway that's just for grown-ups!
The treehouse is perched high in six sycamore trees, in the grounds of a 14th century Scottish castle, surrounded by 17 acres of woodland. The castle is a hotel, with fabulous facilities that include a restaurant, bistro and a bar with an excellent selection of malt whiskies. A stay in the treehouse means you get a proper glamping experience, with hotel facilities right on hand when you want them. Perfect!
You'll find the treehouse just a few hundred metres away from the castle, though you might just feel as if you're a lot further away from the real world than that. It looks a little like a fairy house in the sky, with a turret reaching up through the leaves, and sun glinting on its copper roof tiles. The treehouse sits in its own private glade, so you're guaranteed to have this corner of Scotland all to yourself.
An easy to climb staircase (no creaky ladders here!) leads to the treehouse's balcony. At night, you'll find it easily - it's covered in fairy lights. Stained-glass double doors lead to the inside, where you'll find your luxury suite - with everything you'd expect from a five-star hotel included.
At the treehouse's heart is its cosy, custom-made king-size bed, hewn beautifully out of elm. Trees reach up through the floor and ceiling - you'll never forget that you're up in the trees when you stay here.
You'll also never be short of comfort. As well as the very cosy bed, you'll find a TV, DVD and CD players, coffee maker and fridge. And of course, the treehouse is heated, so it's just as lovely for winter stays as summer.
Climb up stairs again, and you'll find yourself in a huge octagonal bathroom, with a freestanding Victorian-style slipper bath at its heart. Step in and relax in the water under a chandelier of leaves and flowers.
The treehouse has been painted throughout with woodland trees and fairy scenes. It's a magical and unusual place to be - every detail has been carefully thought through. There are three balconies commanding amazing views of the surrounding countryside - one is even equipped with a swing!
And whatever the weather, the welcome will always be warm, and the fridge fully stocked with champagne, chocolates and treats.
You might find you don't want to leave the treehouse - but it is worth setting out on an adventure beyond the glade. The woodland grounds make for lovely walks, with the promise of a reviving pot of tea or glass of single malt in the castle when you're done.
There are lots of activities on-site to keep you busy: try your hand at falconry or horse-riding, or head out to the golf course. The castle is surrounded by gorgeous countryside, with lots of ancient villages to explore.
Fernie Castle Treehouse offers fairytale romance. It's the perfect getaway for couples looking for something really special.
