Elham Treehouse
England / Elham, Kent
Full description
A secluded, completely private haven for two, soaring 20ft amongst rustling oak trees for spectacular views over the North Downs in Kent.
Lovingly crafted from recycled timbers, Elham Treehouse couldn't be more perfectly positioned for a blissfully private, romantic retreat amongst nature.
The treetop haven soars 20ft high, between three solid oaks on the edge of a barley field, with glorious green views that stretch across the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
From the moment you arrive, you're likely to feel as though you and your loved one are the only two people in the world.
Furnished with warm comfort in mind, the spacious treehouse is heated and double glazed, making it easy to batten down the hatches on cooler evenings.
After a sound, silent night's sleep in the downy double bed, you'll find a Nespresso machine to kick-start your mornings, and an induction hob to help you whip up tasty breakfasts.
There are plenty of reminders of your treetop location, too, from those aforementioned views, to the tree trunks and leafy branches that cleverly wind their way through the homely, shabby-chic interiors.
There are no bath or shower facilities in the treehouse, though friendly owner Mark may invite you into the nearby house to freshen up. But you certainly won't need to worry about crossing your legs, as there's a handy chemical loo housed in its own cabin downstairs.
Dreamy sunset-watching is more than covered from the al fresco seating area, complete with barbecue and firepit for sizzling suppers. Just add a refreshing bottle of wine, for a calm evening of immersing yourselves in the wondrous sights, sounds and scents of nature.
Later on, toast a few marshmallows as you chat and laugh together, waiting for the stars to make their appearance in the night sky.
Entertainment-wise, you'll find a music system to help you set the perfect background mood, as you snuggle up with a good book (or each-other!)
But if you prefer getting out and about, you could take the quietly scenic, mile-long walk through the fields or country lane, into the chocolate-box village of Elham. Here you'll find two pubs and a restaurant, ready and waiting to reward you for all that hard walking work!
The area also forms part of national cycle route, so you won't be disappointed if you prefer two wheels to two legs.
Meanwhile, a 20-minute drive will take you to the bustling cathedral city of Canterbury, which is packed with culture, and boasts three UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The coast is also a short drive away, if you're hankering after sea spray and a lip-smacking fish and chip supper.
Just remember to make it back to your cosy treehouse in time for that magnificent sunset... and another addictively peaceful evening of getting to know your loved one, all over again.
