When the owners of East Thorne couldn't find a holiday that blended rustic charm with the luxury they were looking for - they found the answer: creating it themselves!
Today, East Thorne offers a glamping experience that blends rustic accommodation with a hint of luxury, set in a safe countryside setting close to the coast. Based near Bude in Cornwall, you can take in countryside, coastlines and Cornish character all in one stay.
With nine luxury yurts on offer, as well as four cosy cottages and a new roundhouse, East Thorne is large enough to provide ample accommodation, yet small enough to remain a little bit exclusive! Whether you're planning a romantic retreat, a family holiday or a large gathering of friends, East Thorne really is the ideal setting.
The yurts are sustainably-sourced, with a modern British twist perfect for our climate to provide cosy accommodation, whatever the British weather! Inside, you'll find space to sleep four (plus x2 extra children camp beds)and everything you need for your stay, including a log burning stove for warmth, handmade beds and all essential cooking utensils. Each yurt also has electricity and Wi-Fi, as well as an undercover cooking area, BBQ and outdoor dining area.
The stylish bathrooms offer another touch of luxury, and guests have full use of the communal Tallet Barn - an undercover, heated dining area and clay oven. East Thorne is also completely child-friendly; highchairs and cots are available for use, and kids can spend endless hours in the games room and adventure playground. Toys, games and seasonal treasure hunts are provided, meaning no end of fun, and parents can be at ease with East Thorne's car-free zone. Adults can relax in our treatment room for tailor made pamper sessions.
For those wanting to sleep a little more conventionally, there are also 4 cosy cottages still with full access to the superb onsite amenities. Choose between the quirkily-named Nook, Cranny, Nobby's or The Cwtch; each one sleeps up to four between a double room, twin room. Beautifully decorated in calming, natural coastal colours and finished with homely touches, every cottage comes fully equipped for a practical yet comfortable stay.
The Roundhouse is East Thorne's newest and most stylish addition. With a quirky, contemporary interior that contrasts with the humble countryside setting, you'll experience high-end luxury and hand-chosen fixtures and fittings. Industrial chic in style with sumptuous fabrics, underfloor heating and a cosy wood-burner, the luxury fittings also extend to the stylish, fully incorporated luxury en-suite bathroom. The larch wood Roundhouse is covered in an insulating ‘eco' grass roof with central sky port hole for stargazing. Tucked away from the main site in your own private garden you'll find a beautiful round wood-fired hot tub. There is also a covered alfresco supper kitchen and a fire bowl for ‘cosying' up in the evenings.Guests staying in the Roundhouse can kick back in their own private area tucked away from the main part of the site or are still able to access the community spirit of East Thorne and its facilities, such as the ‘Rub Hub' treatment room, communal camp fire and outdoor pizza oven.
East Thorne isn't just about the accommodation, however; the owners go the extra mile to make your stay just a little more memorable! Thoughtful touches range from a communal herb garden and campfire cookery book to optional pop up restaurant events and summer paella evenings. Indulge in a Romantic Glamper Hamper or perhaps a Practical Glamper Hamper on arrival to take care of ‘brekky' for the first day or some Cornish arrival treats.
The owners also have fantastic links with local partners to help you do whatever you fancy during your stay. Perhaps enjoy a spot of surfing, rock climbing, horse riding, or relax back with yoga, onsite massage and spa treatments in the newly developed onsite ‘Rub-Hub'. Walk the coastal paths for magnificent scenery, and whether you're a beginner or avid rambler, the owners will be happy to advise some perfect routes for you.
With so many beaches within easy distance, make some time for sand castles, rock pools, and even spotting seals and dolphins in the surf. For picture-perfect streets, visit nearby Clovelly, or take a trip to Boscastle and Tintagel for gorgeous scenery and busy harbours. And if you're into your food, be sure to stop at Padstow for sensational seafood in this bustling town. The Eden Project is within easy driving distance, as is Trethorne Leisure Park and the Milky Way - perfect for keeping the kids entertained!
