Dune House
England / Gwithian, Cornwall
Full description
An exclusive, architect-designed haven especially created for surf lovers and water babies, just five minutes away from St. Ives Bay's iconic Gwithian Beach.
Featuring dramatic views that sweep across the dunes of Gwithian Beach, all the way out to Godrevy Lighthouse and St. Ives Bay, Dune House couldn't be more beautifully located.
Architect designed and purpose-built for those who love getting up close and personal with beach life, you'll marvel at the intricate construction of Dune House, with its incredible use of space, light, and materials locally sourced and inspired by the sea.
Sleeping up to eight guests, you'll have four sumptuous upstairs bedrooms to choose from. The two master kingsize rooms each come with its own walk-in waterfall shower room, and they also share a decked, west-facing balcony that's perfect for morning coffee-by-the-sea. Two cosy twin rooms (which can also be converted to super kings if required), feature incredible views of Godrevy Lighthouse, or soothing open farmland.
Once you've claimed your favourite bedroom, it's time to get everyone together for drinks in the outrageously spacious, open plan living, kitchen and dining area. Here you'll discover plenty of squishy seating for everybody, along with toasty underfloor heating, a Morsø feature wood burner, and a large Smart TV for movie nights.
You'll find the kitchen packed with high-end appliances that are reminiscent of a chef's dream, while the sociable dining table seats a generous 12 guests (ideal if you've also booked the adjoining Dune Lodge, which sleeps an additional 4).
Meanwhile, huge windows and patio doors showcase those jaw-dropping views to perfection. On sunny days, simply slide those doors open, and head out onto the decking and lawned gardens, to continue chatting and giggling away with your loved ones in the fresh, open air.
As if all that wasn't quite enough, you'll find a specially created indoor après-surf changing room, complete with two showers and space for drying wetsuits, and a large, mood-lit snug that's perfect for games, more movies, or simply curling up with a good book.
Not that you'll have much time to relax, when you've got your own garden gate that leads over onto the sand dunes! Head for the local café and a slap-up surfer breakfast (just like the locals!) - otherwise a five minute stroll will lead you straight onto the iconic surfing mecca that is Gwithian Beach, stretching for three miles of epic sands...simply add your own surfboard and wetsuit, or hire locally (with a parade of surf schools lining the beach, there's no excuse not to at least give it a try!)
In season, Gwithian is lifeguarded so perfect for families, and boasts lots of rockpools for the kids to explore! Other golden, sun-drenched beaches are in easy reach, all perfect for swimming, watersports, or lazing on that beach towel.
When you're all surfed and sunbathed out, simply stroll back to Dune House as the sun begins to set. Freshen up in your après-surf room, then prepare the barbecue for a sizzling supper under the stars.
Things to note
Dune House is available in June, July, August and September as well as Easter and Christmas week. Check in after 4pm, check out by 10am. Regrettably, pets are not permitted. A travel cot and highchair can be provided on request.
