Full description
Create lasting memories in an idyllic, dog-friendly, completely private retreat set on a four-acre fishing lake in the South Downs National Park.

A unique and soul-soothing family escape, Ditchling Cabin is mesmerisingly set on a shimmering, four-acre fishing lake, in a village set within the South Downs National Park.

(You can even bring the dogs if you like... after all, a family escape isn't a proper family escape without them!)

Completely private and perfectly secluded, with no neighbours and nobody watching over you, you're free to relax, swim, fish, read, play games, and have fun completely at your leisure.

And you're sure to agree that there's nowhere better to do all that, than right here.

The retreat is filled with eclectic, creative décor and home-from-home style that includes warm colours, plush armchairs to sink into, and plenty of wood for a soothingly rustic feel. There's also a gainful supply of cards and board games, to help cosy evenings in front of the wood-burner along.

Not forgetting, of course, huge doors that open out onto an even huger deck... perfect for lazing in the afternoon sun, or watching the fiery sunset over the lake. And with a rowing boat, canoe and paddle board all provided, there's plenty of watery adventures to be had, too! Simply rinse off in the piping hot outdoor shower afterwards, and you're all set.

There are full kitchen facilities inside, complete with luxuries that include an ice maker for home-mixed cocktails, and a Nespresso machine to charge your mornings. Though you may find you prefer firing up the Big Green Egg barbecue for sizzling al fresco suppers.

Why not linger outside with that post-dinner tipple... long enough to greet the twinkling stars emerging in the night sky, as you tell stories and toast marshmallows on the campfire?

When it's finally time to turn in, there's an enormous, irresistibly downy bed to curl up in. The bedroom is also home to a super-indulgent rolltop bath, beautifully positioned by huge windows that showcase that sparkling lake in all its glory. Fluffy bathrobes are even provided, too.

(The kids, meanwhile, get to sleep in fun, cosy bunk beds, nestled in their very own ‘cupboard'!)

What to do next? Well, if you really feel like it, you could get out and explore the South Downs National Park, or jump in the car and stock up on supplies in the nearby town.

Otherwise, why not simply enjoy the adventure and seclusion of your very own lake house, and make fond family memories that promise to last a very long time indeed?
