Down a country lane and exquisitely set on a 30 acre, family-run farm within Somerset's breathtaking Blackdown Hills, you will find Dimpsey, an idyllic heritage-steeped retreat that's bathed in natural luxury.
‘Dimpsey' is a West Country expression for the beautiful half-light dusk that arrives at the end of every day... a welcome sign that the working day is over and it's time to start relaxing!
You'll soon find that a stay at Dimpsey is the perfect setting for relaxing and indulging your senses. Its wood-fired hot tub is the ideal place from which to contemplate life as the first stars appear in the sky (you'll find a star map and a telescope inside the hut), while the charming garden kitchen will convert even the most reluctant of cooks.
Everything has been taken care of at Dimpsey, with its emphasis firmly upon switching off and enjoying all that nature has to offer. There is no distracting WiFi, allowing you to fully reconnect with your loved one in endlessly long conversation... all surrounded by fresh country air and green views across lush hills.
Inside the 18-feet long hut awaits a sanctuary worthy of a fine hotel suite, with a roomy double bed dressed in luxury linen and downy blankets, together with plenty of stylish and well-chosen accessories. You'll also find a covered outdoor kitchen area and a bathroom suite that features a shower, a granite sink and a flushing toilet - no compost loos here.
A handbuilt oak table and sheepskin-covered bench seats make for the perfect intimate dining area, and back inside the hut you'll find plenty of thoughtful touches, including board games and twinkling fairy lights, to help make your stay complete. On colder evenings, snuggle up next to the warming log burner and get blissfully cosy!
Order meat and eggs direct from the farm - you'll find herbs and vegetables growing on site especially for you to use during your stay - or for an extra touch of indulgence, why not arrange for freshly-prepared meals to be delivered directly to the hut? The owners are also happy to make suggestions for popular dining places if you prefer to eat out.
Once you've enjoyed your welcome tea tray - ready and waiting for your arrival - why not plan the rest of your stay? You'll find a vintage picnic basket inside the hut, which if ordered in advance, can be packed with tasty treats for you to take on an exploration of the Blackdown Hills, with their truly stunning valleys, ridges and springs, and skies that provide the perfect backdrop for stargazing.
Taunton and Exeter are easily accessible, as are smaller towns including Chard, while the winding country lanes are ideal for whizzing through on your bike! And of course, there is always plenty to see on the Doomsday Book-listed farm itself, with its team of friendly rare-breed animals.
So if you're in need of a romantic stay with more than a little touch of extra indulgence included, come and experience glamping at its memorable best with a blissful stay at Dimpsey.

Tried and tested
"A very short note just to say thanks once again for the wonderful stay we had at your beautiful Shepherds Hut on the 9th/10th July, and also for the lovely, lovely soaps that you so kindly gave to me as we departed. The Hut itself was an absolute joy - decorated and filled so beautifully, comfortably and thoughtfully, and we had an amazing stay. The hot tub was also superb - I think Andy could happily have spent the whole two days in there! For me it was the peace and quiet and the view across the fields that I especially loved - being able to read a book in such beautiful surroundings and looking out at such a glorious setting was a treat indeed. We also had two fabulous meals at the Candlelight Inn, which I would recommend without hesitation to anyone and everyone. I know that we will be back to visit as soon as we possibly can."
"We were warmly welcomed by Emma on arrival and she showed us to the beautiful Shepherd's hut and how everything worked. She had also left us tea and cake with a lovely vase of wild flowers which was a beautiful touch and wonderful supplies for our first breakfast. The Shepherd's hut is absolutely stunning - beautifully and constructed, very spacious and the interior decoration has been thoughtfully chosen and carefully styled. The bed is incredibly comfortable, the bathroom is fantastic and every attention to detail was perfect. This is an excellent base to explore Somerset and Dorset but also a beautiful place to relax, unwind and listen to the sheep munching grass. We were lucky enough to have very clear nights with no cloud and had a wonderful view of the nights sky and twinkling stars. I could not recommend Emma and her beautiful Shepherd's hut highly enough - a fantastic place to stay!"
"We had a fantastic few days in the shepherds hut; despite it being December and really rather cold, the hut was cosy and warm. The wood burning stove is a real asset! The interior perfectly matched the beautiful view over the valley from Beetham Farm, an idyllic location. We were very comfortable in the hut with everything you need to be self sufficient and get a great nights sleep, the bathroom was particularly luxurious and we loved the carved granite sink, very functional in the compact space. Andrew and Emma are great hosts and make you feel very welcome."
