Comrie Croft Nordic Kata Tents
Enjoy a wee slice of gloriously green relaxation and fresh adventure in an authentic Scottish heartland home-from-home.
Located just over an hour away from the bustling cities of Edinburgh and Glasgow, you'll find Comrie Croft, a natureful Crieff haven packed full of everything you need for an environmentally friendly, pure air-filled getaway that offers something for absolutely everyone, from cosy relaxation to thrilling adventure!
The emphasis at Comrie Croft is set firmly upon care and sustainability of the local environment, an award-winning philosophy that ensures guests can take full advantage of the authentic smells and sounds of nature, enjoy spotting thriving local wildlife and relax in a naturally soothing - not to mention stunning - woodland backdrop.
For those looking to try a wild camping experience with an added touch of unique style, you'll find a stay in Comrie Croft's very own handmade tipi-style Nordic kata tents will surely convert you for life!
Each kata measures 6 metres in diameter and features a cosy woodburning stove at its centre. You'll find them perfectly positioned in beautifully tranquil open birch woodland that allows you to get up close to nature in all its bountiful beauty. Just imagine falling asleep to the soft calls of owls and deer, with gentle raindrops pattering onto the canvas as you snuggle under sheets. In the morning, awaken to sun streaming all around, as you make up a steaming mug of coffee and take in the delightful aroma of wild flowers.
Each kata sleeps up to six people, and they make a lovely and roomy holiday dwelling for couples. Families will especially love Kata 5, uniquely located next to the low meadow and nearest to the onsite facilities, with its own private boardwalk and ensuite toilet.
Cosily equipped with fabrics, lovingly homemade furniture that includes an Alpine-style bed, and plenty of soft cushions, you'll discover a real home from home in your kata tent...and there's even a hammock included if you'd prefer to snooze among the stars. Sing campfire songs around the firepit as you toast marshmallows to your heart's content - the perfect way to end an adventure-filled day.
The katas also have their own en-suite outhouse with steaming hot showers, toilets and kitchen facilities including a microwave and several handy charging points.
In addition to the katas, Comrie Croft boasts alternative accommodation in the form of a cosy three-bedroom farmhouse, a traditional Scottish steading (known as a farmstead to Sassenachs!) that's ideal for groups, and a natural eco-camping site.
During the day, why not leave the car on site and discover the local area on foot? Have fun squirrel-spotting, or discover a number of invigorating walks that range from a gentle ramble to an ambitious mountain-climb, all surrounded by the fresh air and lush foliage Perthshire is rightly famous for.
If you prefer to get on your bike, you couldn't find yourself in a better place. You'll be truly spoilt for choice with the amazing biking routes in the Crieff-Comrie paths network, and you'll find the friendly site owners are bursting with knowledge about the best - and the most challenging - ones to try. You can even hire a bike if you forget to bring your own!
If you're looking to bring a new skill back home with you, just over the valley you'll find Do it Outdoors, offering lessons in archery, backwoods cooking and bushcraft to name but a few. Action Glen is the perfect place to get some adrenaline going with high-ropes among the sweet-smelling firs, and for those who prefer watery ventures, why not hire a boat and discover the magnificence of Loch Tay?
When you've finished exploring and adventuring - or even just because you're in the mood - you may find a cake-refuelling pit stop at the on-site Tea Garden is just what you need before heading back to your accommodation.
You'll find Comrie Croft, together with nature itself, has created the perfect outdoor-based break without compromising on style, scenery or adventure...so why not come and discover it all for yourself?
