Full description

A gorgeously secluded Welsh shepherd's hut, packed with cosy comforts and showcasing endless views of rolling hills.

We all need to take precious time out of the rat race every now and again, and after a stay at Caban y Bryn, you'll be fully converted to life in the Crickadarn slow lane.

Not only is peace and quiet all but guaranteed, but the views here are absolutely spectacular - all rolling green hills, vast unpolluted skies and blazing sunsets.

A lovingly bespoke-crafted shepherd's hut for two, you'll find Caban y Bryn at the end of a magical wooded glade, set within an acre of private garden.

(While your friendly hosts Fiona and Rob are on hand to help with anything you might need, they're also far enough away for you to feel blissfully secluded in this glorious space!)

The off-grid hut is equipped with everything you'll need for a cosy stay, including a downy double bed, a two-ring gas hob with pots and pans, and a handy cool box.

Meanwhile, there's an outdoor shower with eco-toiletries and plenty of piping hot water, and a compost loo-with-a-view, accessed by a quirky solar-lit walkway.

Oh, and for a special treat there's also a relaxing outdoor firebath - perfect for stargazing with a glass or two of wine.

Fire up the barbecue and enjoy a sizzling supper on the decking, an ideal vantage point for watching the sun sink over the hills (don't forget those marshmallows to toast on the firepit later on).  With snuggly extras including a decking sofa, a hand-knitted throw and comfy robes, your first night is more than complete.

After morning coffee accompanied by rolling hill views, it's time to get out and explore!

Marvel at the amazing views from different points in the garden, where you'll also find homely touches that include a perfectly-placed viewing bench, and original gates created by Rob from driftwood and deckchair wood. If you're lucky, you may also receive the occasional friendly visit from the resident chickens.

Take a short stroll up the hill for a magnificent view of the Black Mountains, with plenty of quiet bridleways and winding footpaths to get yourselves deliciously lost on nearby. If you'd rather follow a tried and tested path, there are plenty of information books inside the cabin, leading you to some incredible wild swimming spots and waterfall walks.

Slightly further afield, jump in the car and head into Erwood for fantastic pub food, or Buith Wells to visit the famed Royal Welsh Showground. If you're an avid reader, the book-lovers town of Hay-on-Wye is easily accessible too, complete with friendly coffee stops.

If you'd rather stay put and learn something new, professional creatives Fiona and Rob can offer workshops ranging from singing lessons to felt-making sessions.

Time to rest, relax and recharge those batteries with a stay at Caban y Bryn - your soul will thank you for it.

Things to note

No pets permitted. No internet access, yet mobile signal is possible.  There is a 3 minute walk from the parking area to the hut.
