Brackenhill Glamping
England / Ugborough, Devon
Full description
Cosily furnished, family-sized safari tents, dog-friendly and secluded amongst 1,5 acres of Devon nature that's close to both Dartmoor National Park and unspoilt South Hams beaches.
Friendly and family-run, you'll find Brackenhill Glamping nestled amongst 1.5 peaceful acres of an idyllic farm field in the ancient South Devon village of Ugborough.
Not only is Dartmoor National Park in easy reach, but you'll also be surrounded by fresh green valley views, peppered with free-roaming chickens, and fun spots for the kids to create new adventures... including a willow den and a mud kitchen!
Better still, your accommodation couldn't be lovelier. Simply choose from two cosily-furnished safari tents, Glow Worm and Slow Worm.
As well as separate rooms and ‘proper' beds, both tents boast self-contained kitchen and bathroom facilities that make them ideal for laid-back family escapes - four-legged family members included.
Sleeping up to five guests, Glow Worm is perfectly positioned to showcase the countryside, and is also handily close to the on-site honesty shop. Inside you'll find two separate bedrooms: one home to a four-poster bed with fairy lights, the other bunks that the kids will love.
Slightly larger, and secluded amongst whispering mature trees, Slow Worm sleeps up to six guests in three bedrooms: a kingsize, a twin, and a bunk room. Filled with home comforts, the large kitchen even comes with a dishwasher, making clearing up after holiday feasts ridiculously easy.
(You'll find the dogs are well looked-after here, too - as well as a large bed, towel and bowls, there'll also be a doggy welcome pack ready and waiting!)
Whichever tent you've chosen, there'll be plenty of wide-open space to make fun memories in, as well as your own firepit for barbecuing, storytelling, stargazing, and marshmallow-toasting.
If you've decided to treat yourselves to a delicious breakfast hamper, you can get your day off to a sizzling start with sausages, eggs and bacon, beans, mushrooms, and plenty of hot, buttered toast. Don't worry about calories - you're going to need the energy if you're planning on exploring the local area!
Along with Dartmoor National Park, there's a plethora of beautiful beaches to roam within a half-hour drive, including Mothecombe and Bigbury.
You could also plan a trip to Dartmoor Zoo - that of the Hollywood movie ‘We Bought A Zoo' - and a charity dedicated to wildlife conservation. Home to an array of cared-for animals, including the largest variety of big cats in the region, there's plenty of scope for making new friends.
But if all that sounds like too much, a five-minute walk will lead you into the village, where you'll find welcoming, dog-friendly pubs.
Things to note
Glamping season runs from April to the end of October. Check-in/out days are Monday and Friday. There is a small additional charge if bringing a dog (Max. 2 per tent). A travel cot and highchair are available on request.
