If you close your eyes and imagine yourself in the midst of a breathtaking, wildlife-steeped natural paradise, you’ll probably picture Billabong Falls.

The brainchild of award-winning landscape designer Phillip Johnson and his wife Sarah, this unique and seriously luxurious treehouse-style villa is peacefully set within one of Australia’s most spectacular natural settings – Victoria’s Dandenong Ranges and less than one hour out of Melbourne.

Surrounded by magnificent Mountain Ash forests, native bushland, and ancient tree ferns, you can listen to the gentle sound of the cascading waterfalls as you look out towards the Yarra Valley, Victoria’s famed wine region (perhaps with a well-deserved glass in hand!)

Better still, you’ll have everything you could possibly want at your disposal – and more besides.

Firstly, the seven-acre grounds are also home to a beautiful natural swimming pool with waterfalls and a private, hot outdoor shower. Discover the waterfall-dotted billabong (natural pond) itself just below the house – and with decking on both sides of the villa, you can catch the sun rising and falling every day (warning: this can get seriously addictive!)

Inside your heated and air-conditioned villa await two scenery-showcasing bedrooms – one kingsize and one queensize – and a gorgeously open living space that features huge windows for even more of that view-gazing. Fire up the woodburner for the ultimate in evening relaxation.

There’s a well-equipped kitchen, complete with gleaming appliances and a central island, for you to whip up forest-style feasts, and you’ll also find a tasty breakfast basket that includes fresh free-range eggs from Phillip and Sarah’s nearby farm. Meanwhile, the indulgent bathroom includes a dreamy hot tub, and plenty of fluffy towels.

What the guests of Billabong Falls say

“It’s hard to sum up a magical weekend with too little space in the guest book. What a great place to start the rest of our lives. My husband and I found Billabong Falls a beautiful magic place, full of birds, peace and most of all silent, tranquil surroundings. Our wedding was made even better by just being here! Take everything in and relax!”

“After working in 5star hotels across Australia and Asia we can sometimes be a little hard to WOW.  But Billabong Falls definitely has the WOW factor! Beautiful attention to detail, excellent beds and an amazing overall experience.  Great recommendations from Sarah for local experiences in the Dandenong Ranges and Yarra Valley. Thank you we will return.”

“Absolutely brilliant garden, and the views! Such tranquillity, thanks for providing such a wonderful location.”
