Betty the Boutique Bedford Bus
England / Washaway, Cornwall
Full description
A lovingly renovated dog-friendly retreat, secluded on a private site in North Cornwall's idyllic Camel Valley: a designated AONB just 10 minutes away from the golden-sand coast.
Lower Tregleath is the kind of paradise-like setting that you fall head-over-heels in love with, right from the moment you arrive.
Comprising four glorious, private acres of North Cornwall's breath-taking Camel Valley - a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, no less - you're just ten minutes away from a host of idyllic golden beaches, including Polzeath and Mawgan Porth.
That's if you can bear to leave, of course! And once you've encountered Betty, blissfully secluded with her very own orchard and sunset barbecue spot, you may decide to put those plans to explore firmly on hold.
Friendly owner Hannah renovated Betty, a 1954 Bedford R bus, herself, in a dedicated labour of love. She's seen to it that you'll have plenty of unique and quirky comfort... not to mention every facility you could want.
To start with, Betty's cosy living area features a long, deep bench seat that's covered with cushions, and there's an electric fire to keep you toasty on cool evenings.
Meanwhile, when you're not using the barbecue, you'll find the dreamy kitchen area equipped with a full-sized oven, a four-ring hob, and a Belfast sink, along with those all-important holiday items - a microwave and a kettle.
Flanked by curtained windows, the kingsize bedroom allows you to drift off into a sound night's sleep, with mesmerising morning views to look forward to before you've even got up (in case you're wondering where your four-legged friend will sleep, there's plenty of space on board Betty for a dog crate, too!)
Oh, and did we mention you'll also have an enclosed, fully plumbed-in bathroom on board? Equipped with a standard-size shower, loo, and sink - there's even a dedicated shaving point - you can relax, knowing there'll be no hasty midnight dashes to freezing communal facilities.
What to do after you've freshened up for the day? Hannah, along with her young son Maximo and his four-legged sidekick Buzz, will do her best to make sure your stay is a truly special one, especially when it comes to suggestions for the best local places to eat and visit.
Those amazing beaches are a given, of course... in fact, why not learn how to surf? You're in the best possible location for it, after all!
You'll find Wadebridge, the nearest town, strewn with charming independent shops to browse through, while some of the area's most famed places and attractions, including Padstow and the Lost Gardens of Heligan, are under 30 minutes away.
(Who could ask for anything more?)
Things to note
One small to medium-sized dog is also welcome to stay.
