Beautifully nestled on a family farm in the heart of rural Angus, you’ll find Balbinny perfectly located between the sleepy Scottish market towns of Forfar and Brechin.

Featuring generous, sustainable on-site facilities (fitness suite, pool and spa anyone?), you can also expect to enjoy 180-degree views across the river South Esk, all the way out to the Cairngorms.

Steeped in history, the luxurious brochs you’ll find here are named for the ancient stone dwellings that were unique to this area of Scotland. Built directly into the landscape, crafted from reclaimed stone, and featuring a grass roof, each broch blends seamlessly into the rolling farmland that surrounds them.

Inside, contemporary luxury meets traditional Scottish country style, with a crackling log burner to warm your evenings, and modern additions that include a Sonos sound system and a large flatscreen TV – just in case you ever tire of those breathtaking views from your broch’s huge French windows!

Meanwhile, you’ll find the kitchen area is a joy to cook in, with its solid oak worktops, and mod cons that include that all-important dishwasher.

When it’s time to turn in, there are two en-suite bedrooms that sleep up to four guests – a super kingsize master with upcycled headboards and an indulgent rain shower, and a twin or kingsize with a gorgeous feature bath.

Spend the time beforehand gathered together in the living area over post-dinner drinks, or how about a sunset-watching session in your Swedish wood-burning hot tub, with panoramic views out to the Cairngorms, instead?
