Full description
An award-winning Dorset glamping haven with luxurious retreats, set on the banks of a scenic lake within a friendly, family-run organic dairy farm.

Beautifully located on the Dorset and Somerset border, At Goathill Farm is a luxurious, picture-perfect glamping site on an organic dairy farm.

The friendly family owners have farmed there since 1957, emphasising high standards of care both for their well-loved animals, and for the surrounding environment. This includes encouraging local wildlife, eliminating pesticides, and planting trees on site (a rewarding activity you can choose to get involved with during your stay!)

Choose your favourite retreat from the whimsical Old Orchard Cottage, and two gorgeous shepherd's huts.

Old Orchard Cottage is perfect for a small family, with a double and a twin bedroom, and a comforting living space with the original ceiling beams. There's a warming inglenook fireplace to snuggle around, too... while the well-equipped kitchen boasts a Nespresso coffee machine to help charge your mornings!

Outside awaits a fairytale-like, sun-trap garden that's perfect for al fresco suppers. You can also pick as much fruit as you like from the ancient, whispering apple tree on the lawn.

Meanwhile, the shepherd's huts each sleep two guests, which make them ideal for a romantic break into nature. Surrounded by lush, rolling hills, you'll find Bill's primed to watch the cows coming in for milking, and Edgar's secluded on the bank of a shimmering lake, under an ash tree that hums with birdsong.

Both huts come complete with a downy double bed and a cast-iron electric radiator to keep you toasty inside, and a firepit for star-sprinkled storytelling sessions outside. You'll also be greeted by a hamper packed with local produce, including farm-fresh eggs if the resident hens are laying well!

The owners are more than happy to supplement your stay with a few pre-ordered treats, from cake and champagne, to birthday banners and mouth-watering breakfast hampers... just ask.

How will you spend your blessed holiday time? Well, there are some beautiful walks just begging to be embarked upon (don't forget your boots!), including a footpath that leads you directly from the farm, straight into the pretty market town of Sherborne.

The sweeping, World Heritage Jurassic Coast is a mere hour away for those who love to be beside the seaside, with impossibly scenic spots that include Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door.

Oh, and there's plenty on offer for those who fancy doing something a little different, too. For example, how about a pottery lesson, or a visit to - and a tasting session in - a traditional cider barn nearby?  All perfect ways to round off a perfect stay At Goathill Farm.

Things to note

The site is open between April and October, and the holiday cottage is open year-round. Pets are regrettably not permitted, due to the site being a working farm. Please note that the accommodation is not suitable for guests with limited mobility.

Tried and tested

"We truly cannot thank you enough for not only having/hosting us, but for all of the beautifully thought out extra bits too! The prosecco, the welcome basket, the games, all the kitchen utensils you could ever need, the laminated walks, the binoculars, the fire equipment and instructions... I could go on - the entire stay has felt so homely and cosy. This place is really special. As I swing on the hammock overlooking the pond, I recount a few of my favourite happenings over the past couple of days:
- Carving pumpkins around the firepit
- Cooking dinner (and desserts) over an open fire - you must try the jam doughnut thing!
- Sitting on the pond deck taking in the beautiful surroundings
- The Goathill to Sherborne walk - just stunning
- Oliver's cafe in Sherborne
- The animals
We could stay here forever, thank you for making Edgar's the most unique, comfortable and fun staycation it could possibly be. 10/10

P.S. Toilet, shower and washroom facilities also 10/10!"

"Thank you so much for all the care and love that is felt here and in the land. It was a blessing"

"The Mary Poppins of glamping sites - practically perfect in every way. The farm is beautiful, the huts (we stayed in Edgar) are cosy, clean and beautifully put together - every little thing has been thought of - lovely bedding, nice glasses, a basket of local milk and fresh eggs and other goodies. The shower is also excellent! We saw bats, deer, ducklings, and enjoyed hot coffee looking over the lake - an absolutely perfect weekend. Thank you so much."
