Luxurious and eclectic accommodation for couples, families and friends, rich in detail and beautifully nestled in the Brecon Beacons.

A friendly, family-run cluster of individual places where attention to detail reigns supreme, you'll receive the warmest of Welsh welcomes when you arrive at Argoed Barns.

For starters, you'll feel as though the scenic best of Wales has been transported right to your hillside doorstep, with the Brecon Beacons, Hay Bluff and the Black Mountains all within easy reach.

Your accommodation - ranging from two luxury geodomes, a bespoke-crafted shepherd's hut, and a converted stone barn - showcases these spectacular views to their most awe-inspiring effect, whilst inside you can expect creature comforts galore.

Perfect for couples in need of a romantic escape, the shepherd's hut has been custom-crafted for both style and comfort. Not only can you curl up in a full-length double bed, you'll also have your very own underfloor-heated wet room (bliss!)

Oak flooring and a wood-burning stove add to the hut's elegance, as you clutch a steaming mug of coffee and gaze out towards the rolling Brecon Beacons. On sunny evenings you can retire to the decking area, complete with barbecue and pizza oven. Oh, and not forgetting the delicious breakfast hamper, delivered right to your door each morning!

Ideal for couples, a family or a small group, The Byre sleeps 4-5 guests in an imaginatively converted stone barn. Solid oak beams and heated flagstone flooring provide plenty of rustic charm, while the double-height living room is filled with light from French windows that look soothingly out towards Pen y Fan.

Enjoy the homely comforts of a well-equipped kitchen and dedicated dining area, and when it's time to turn in you'll find two cosily luxurious bedroom suites to choose from - one featuring a pedestal bath, and the other French windows that lead out to the patio.

Finally, there are two sumptuous, off-grid geodomes to choose from - one, Seren Bach, 7m and the other, Seren Mawr, 8m in diameter. You'll find both dreamily equipped with a wide window to maximise natural light (the 7m dome also includes a stargazing roof that's ideal for monitoring the ever-changing sky), cosy furnishings, a wood-burner, and a sumptuous brass bed. Oh, and not forgetting your very own hot tub, ideal for sunset-watching over a glass or two of bubbles.

What to do next? Well, you could start by exploring the grounds, keeping an eye out for the occasional free-range chicken or wandering sheep.

There are plenty of walking guides and maps if you prefer a longer ramble, while if you've brought your bike along, you're in serious luck! With a wealth of amazing cycle routes beginning right from the doorstep, it may be a while before you return for that well-deserved sunset supper.

Meanwhile, culture vultures will love exploring nearby Hay-on-Wye, while foodies will appreciate close proximity to the renowned Felin Fach Griffin, a warmly welcoming dining pub with squishy leather sofas. Stop in for an evening treat, after a long day of trekking through the mountains...

...or simply spend your blessed escape-time curled up indoors with a good book. The choice is completely yours!

Tried and tested

The Byre: "Well, where do we even begin! You gave the most amazing warm welcome (and an amazing chocolate cake). We instantly felt at ease. The barn is the most beautiful, relaxing place we have ever stayed, you really have thought of ever little detail. The log fire kept us nice and cosy, after our long days out enjoying what you have to offer on your doorstep. Thank you so very much - we will return."

Shepherd's Hut: "The perfect place to end our holiday and camping trip - pure luxury! Thank you for being so welcoming, friendly and giving us great recommendations. Thanks also for booking us a meal at The Griffin - it was heavenly food! We loved - our little patio area overlooking the Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons, our sheep neighbours, the sounds of birds, endless cups of tea, breakfast to our door, the pizza oven and wood to get it started, wine glasses, yummy cupcakes, blankets and a cosy bed, and so much more! We could have stayed her for much longer and look forward to returning in the future."

Dome: "Incredibly relaxing weekend, we explored near and far. From the short walk to The Griffin for great food to a long hike around the hills surrounding Llanthony Priory. We drank champagne in the hot tub on a beautiful clear night and watched the wildlife come and go. We've already recommended this to several friends as it is a truly magical spot. Thank you for the warm welcome and for creating it in the first place."
