A hand built Finnish-style log cabin eco-stay, set in an unspoilt Shropshire meadow.

Annie's Cabin is a hand built Finnish log cabin, surrounded by meadowland in the heart of the Shropshire countryside. It's a wonderful place for a relaxed holiday enjoying the great outdoors.

Inspired by a stay in a cabin in Idaho, Annie's Cabin was lovingly designed and built by its owners using locally grown Douglas Fir logs to eco-friendly principles. It is a spacious, welcoming place, with everything you'll need for a very special holiday.

Glass doors lead into a light, open plan lounge area. At one end, there's a cosy sofa to spend relaxed evenings on. At the other, there is a large kitchen area, with an induction hob and and plenty of cooking equipment. In the middle of the room, the dining table looks out over the meadow. Day or evening, there's lots of space to stretch out, share a meal or a drink and enjoy each others' company. On cold evenings, the eco-friendly wood pellet stove will keep you warm, and casts a lovely golden light over the log walls. For entertainment, you'll find a home cinema system and a selection of books, games and DVDs.

There are two bedrooms, a double and a twin. If you need more space, there is also a double sofa bed in the lounge. There is a large wetroom, with water heated by the solar panels on the roof. Outside, there's a sheltered meadow with a small river running round it, and the cabin has a wood-fired earth oven for pizza, and a firepit.

The attractive market town of Ludlow is nearby, a fantastic place to wander, with small independent shops and regular farmers' markets. If you want to cook up something special back at the cabin, it's a good place to pick up some fresh ingredients. If you'd rather let someone else do the cooking, Ludlow is something of a gastronomic centre, with a good selection of restaurants and pubs.

Beyond Ludlow are the Shropshire Hills: green, rolling and ripe for exploring. Walkers will love Offa's Dyke and the Shropshire Way, as well as the many shorter walks on lesser-known trails. There's some great cycling to be had too, with everything from quiet country lanes to testing mountain bike routes.

Annie's Cabin offers a peaceful, eco-friendly escape that adults and kids will love equally, in a much-loved part of the English countryside.
