The Private Hill
England / Acklam, North Yorkshire
Ever wanted to live a scenic life down on the farm, without having to pull on your wellies and rough it in a tent?
The Private Hill is your answer, an enticingly elegant selection of luxury geodesic domes secluded on the awe-inspiring edge of the North Yorkshire Wolds with a 5* Gold rating and Unique Accommodation Accolade from Quality in Tourism.
Packed with five star hotel-levels of cosiness, you can gaze across at adorable Alpaca, and listen to the distant bleating of the resident sheep, as you cradle fresh coffee and admire that glorious sunrise.
Each ensuite, 40 m2 dome is named after local cattle, and you'll find it roomy enough to sleep up to two adults and two children in sumptuous comfort.
Equipped with flushing toilets and piping hot showers (so there'll be no traipsing across muddy fields!), your superking or twin beds will be dressed in fresh sheets and downy duvets...and you'll even have a choice of pillows. Children will feel relaxed and instantly at home with the extremely comfortable sofa beds provided.
Meanwhile, there's a fully soft drink-stocked minibar fridge with freezer drawer, and a kitchenette equipped with everything from a microwave to a Nespresso coffee machine. There's a central barbecue area where guests can watch their steak being cooked for them, so you can get everyone together for a sizzling al fresco optional supper on the decking of Jane's Dome. Later on, simply light the crackling wood burning stove and fire up the Sonos speakers, to set the perfect evening mood.
When morning rolls around, gourmet North Yorkshire breakfasts can be deliciously taken care of at Jane's Dome nearby. Simply wander along and relax with a newspaper, while later on you can indulge in some well-deserved tea and a slice of freshly-baked cake.
There are plenty of ways for everybody to spend their time well at The Private Hill. Why not take an Alpaca Walking Experience over the farm, where you'll be able to meet some of the animals in person and see the work that the owners of the farm are doing to improve the wildlife habitats.(occasionally, the kids will even be invited to help collect fresh eggs for breakfast).
If you've brought your bikes along, you can whizz through the surrounding lanes and explore the gorgeous scenery just itching to be explored, while other local delights include Flamingo Land, Castle Howard, Malton - with its amazing Food Festival - and the stunning city of York, a mere 25 minutes away.
However, we wouldn't blame you if all you wanted to do was stay snuggled in your cosy dome, gazing out across that ever-changing Vale of York scenery to your heart's content.
