Hygge is the popular Danish buzzword meaning “comfortable and cosy” – and it’s a soul-soothing concept that the creators of Nordisk Village have taken completely to heart.

The stunning result is Asia’s very first Scandi-style glamping site.  Discover Nordisk Village perfectly positioned on Japan’s remote, magnificently scenic Goto archipelago in the East China Sea, 100km to the west of Nagasaki.

Infused with history, the islands are dotted with exquisite churches, including the famed, red-brick Dozaki Church that doubles as a heritage museum. But if you’re a lover of the natural world, then it’s the incredible wilderness, soft-sand beaches and crystal-clear water that will charm and captivate you the most.

With this idyllic natural landscape as its backdrop, Nordisk Village beautifully combines all the elements of relaxation, activity and luxury. Unwind amongst furnished tents, deluxe facilities, an outdoor kitchen, and an old school building beautifully restored as a cosy restaurant and lodging space.

Choose your accommodation from seven Vanaheim tents that sleep 2-3 people in a generous 24m2 of space, or three Mongolian-style Asgard tents for two. Whichever you choose, clean-lined minimalist Scandi style reigns supreme throughout, with pure, soft furnishings and irresistibly cosy beds.

If you prefer a more social lodging, unique rooms are also available in the old school building, along with shared facilities including bathroom, kitchen and communal lounge area.

Now it’s time to decide how you’d like to dine! Select from a leisurely restaurant sitting, a self-prepared sizzling barbecue, or create your very own culinary delights in the communal kitchen at the heart of the village – all washed down with a glass or two of delicious local wine.

You’ll feel a wonderful sense of community throughout your stay…be prepared to make firm friends! Relax, too, in the knowledge that your holiday includes several eco-credentials, including limited use of power and a shared central kitchen.

Meanwhile, there are plenty of activities for you to enjoy in the surrounding area. Rent a rod and head for the sea if you’re in need of a quiet afternoon’s fishing, or relax on an awe-inspiring cruise around Fukue Island – the very last place to be illuminated by the setting sun.

If you’re an experienced scuba diver, you’re in luck! Scores of colourful fish and coral reefs await you on the sea bed, or you can hire a paddle board and chart your own course along the waves.
