Full description
A unique vintage retreat on a rural Dorset smallholding close to the Jurassic Coast, with farm-fresh produce and Caravan Club certified facilities.

Occupying twelve scenic acres of rural Dorset, you'll find Greenacres Bed and Breakfast in Marshwood, just a few miles from Bridport and achingly close to the World Heritage Jurassic Coast.

Surrounded by rolling hills (the two highest points in Dorset - Lewesdon Hill and Pilsdon Pen - can be seen from the site) and abundant wildlife, the nearby fields are dotted with grazing sheep, pigs and hens, and there are some truly beautiful walks to test the sturdiest of footwear.

Yet once you've settled into your unique vintage retreat, you may put those plans to explore firmly on hold!

A former fruit and vegetable wagon that travelled faithfully back and forth along the Weymouth to London line, the Railway Wagon was expertly constructed back in the 1920s. These days, you'll find it lovingly converted to provide cosy accommodation for two adults and two children, or as a romantic couples retreat (the low light pollution makes it perfect for stargazing!).

Simply hop on board to discover everything you'll need for a relaxing break that feels like home. There's a fridge and a gas hob for cooking, a TV and DVD player for snuggly evenings in, downy beds for sound nights of sleep, and a full-sized shower room (and a flushing loo) to help you freshen up in comfort.

There are plenty of original touches, too... such as the coat hooks, which once held the chains that belonged to the wagon's former fruit-basket passengers!

Bringing extra guests? There's room to pitch a small tent outside the wagon, or if your guests happen to be Caravan Club members, Greenacres also offers a certified five-van site, with peaceful, adults-only pitches complete with electric hookups.

Once you've settled in, all that's left to do is enjoy a hearty breakfast from home-reared produce that includes sausages, bacon, and freshly laid eggs... and then decide what you'll do with the rest of the day!

If you're not relaxing on site with a good book and good company, you'll find plenty to capture your attention close by, from horse riding at the local stables, to walking the breathtakingly scenic Golden Cap, England's only natural World Heritage Site.

Amateur chefs will love The River Cottage Cookery School (keen foodies will love the canteen!), while nearby Branscombe is awash with village pubs to while away some time in... when you're not exploring the magnificent shingle beach.

Wear yourselves out as much as you like, safe in the knowledge that your Greenacres retreat will be waiting for you at the end of yet another fun-filled day.

Things to note

Pets are not permitted in the wagon. Please note that one of the bunk beds is only suitable for a small child (aged 10 or under). A tent can be pitched outside the wagon for a small additional charge. A travel cot can be hired for a 3rd young child/baby for an extra £10.
