A multi award-winning, romantic shepherd's hut retreat in soothing Somerset, taking glamping to brand new levels of luxury in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
  • Sleeps: 2 per hut
  • Bedroom: Studio
  • Bathroom: 1 per hut
  • Minimum stay: 2 nights

Down a country lane and exquisitely set on a 30 acre, family-run farm within Somerset’s breathtaking Blackdown Hills, you will find Dimpsey, an idyllic heritage-steeped retreat that’s bathed in natural luxury.

‘Dimpsey’ is a West Country expression for the beautiful half-light dusk that arrives at the end of every day… a welcome sign that the working day is over and it’s time to start relaxing!

You’ll soon find that a stay at Dimpsey is the perfect setting for relaxing and indulging your senses – whichever of the locally-crafted huts, Hither, Yonder, or the newest addition Dapple, you decide to unwind in.

The privately spaced huts are sumptuous and elegant; so much so that it might be easier to think of them as luxury hotel suites in the Great Outdoors! While each is a spacious 18 feet long, Yonder and Dapple boast a second, interconnected hut that’s home to a beautiful bedroom. Dapple’s gorgeous ‘celestial boudoir’ features a mesmerising starlit LED ceiling; ideal for drifting off to dreamland under a comforting blanket of stars!

Hither and Yonder huts have access to a private, wood-fired hot tub, and Dapple an indulgent William Holland copper bathtub – whichever you opt for, this is the ideal place from which to contemplate life as the first stars appear in the sky (you’ll find a star map and a telescope inside the hut). Kitchen facilities are amply provided too, with Dapple boasting a pizza oven, and Hither’s charming garden kitchen promising to convert even the most reluctant of cooks.

Everything has been taken care of at Dimpsey, with its emphasis firmly upon switching off and enjoying all that nature has to offer. There is no distracting WiFi, allowing you to fully reconnect with your loved one in endlessly long conversation… all surrounded by fresh country air and green views across lush hills.

Inside your chosen hut awaits pure sanctuary worthy of a fine hotel suite, with a roomy Naturalmat bed dressed in luxury linen and downy blankets (Yonder’s bed was bespoke-crafted especially for the hut, while Dapple features designer lighting), together with plenty of stylish and well-chosen accessories. Along with its extravagant outdoor bathtub, Dapple features a luxury shower room inside. Hither features a bathroom suite with a refreshing shower and a granite sink, while Yonder is equipped with a gleaming, freestanding bath and a copper-lined shower. And of course, you’ll only find ‘proper’ flushing loos here!

What the guests of Dimpsey Glamping say

“A very short note just to say thanks once again for the wonderful stay we had at your beautiful Shepherds Hut on the 9th/10th July, and also for the lovely, lovely soaps that you so kindly gave to me as we departed. The Hut itself was an absolute joy – decorated and filled so beautifully, comfortably and thoughtfully, and we had an amazing stay. The hot tub was also superb – I think Andy could happily have spent the whole two days in there! For me it was the peace and quiet and the view across the fields that I especially loved – being able to read a book in such beautiful surroundings and looking out at such a glorious setting was a treat indeed. We also had two fabulous meals at the Candlelight Inn, which I would recommend without hesitation to anyone and everyone. I know that we will be back to visit as soon as we possibly can.”
      Sinead

“We were warmly welcomed by Emma on arrival and she showed us to the beautiful Shepherd’s hut and how everything worked. She had also left us tea and cake with a lovely vase of wild flowers which was a beautiful touch and wonderful supplies for our first breakfast. The Shepherd’s hut is absolutely stunning – beautifully and constructed, very spacious and the interior decoration has been thoughtfully chosen and carefully styled. The bed is incredibly comfortable, the bathroom is fantastic and every attention to detail was perfect. This is an excellent base to explore Somerset and Dorset but also a beautiful place to relax, unwind and listen to the sheep munching grass. We were lucky enough to have very clear nights with no cloud and had a wonderful view of the nights sky and twinkling stars. I could not recommend Emma and her beautiful Shepherd’s hut highly enough – a fantastic place to stay!”
      Helen

“We had a fantastic few days in the shepherds hut; despite it being December and really rather cold, the hut was cosy and warm. The wood burning stove is a real asset! The interior perfectly matched the beautiful view over the valley from Beetham Farm, an idyllic location. We were very comfortable in the hut with everything you need to be self sufficient and get a great nights sleep, the bathroom was particularly luxurious and we loved the carved granite sink, very functional in the compact space. Andrew and Emma are great hosts and make you feel very welcome.”
